Face Tracking/Eye Tracking problems With Quest Pro

gasolineprices
Explorer

Hi.  I'm having problems with face tracking with my headset.  When I enable "Natural Face Expressions" my avatar just gives this dead stare and it won't properly track.  Even if Eye Tracking is enabled, the eyes wont move.  The only thing that will move is the mouth, but that is if a sound goes through the mic.  If I disable face tracking, and leave eye tracking enabled, the eyes move properly.

I've tried the fit adjustment feature, but it is bugged.  at first, it used to flicker, and give me the wrong IPD for my eyes (it tells me to move  60 when my IPD is a lot higher than that.  It also thinks 60 is = to 70 too.  The fit adjustment won't even tell me if my headset is unaligned with my head anymore)  And now, I can't even get the fit adjustment to work.  If i enable it now, I get trapped in this lost tracking loop.

All of this used to work.

I'm not sure if this is just a software problem, or a hardware problem.  Is there anything I can do on my end?

Thanks.

I'm having the same face tracking issue with my Quest Pro. I put in a support ticket the other day but all they did was run me through the obvious steps (reboot, reinstall, factory reset, which I did all of to no avail) and link me to this thread and close the ticket, which is kind of funny because it seems like there's no fix to be found here.

I have this device solely for the face tracking, and it just stopped working out of nowhere. My home environment avatar will only stare blankly forward if I have Expressions enabled. If I disable expressions, eye tracking seems to work independently without it. Same thing happens through VRCFaceTracking with PCVR. Fit adjustment also does not work with expressions enabled. I use my QPro for both work and social applications so this is a big downer for me

Is there anyone who was actually able to fix the face tracking once it's gone? I'm worried I might be out of luck after reading some of these posts, and Meta linking me to this specific thread and straight up closing my ticket makes it seem like they might not be able to help

edit: ended up getting an RMA from a Meta support

I’m now having the same issue with mine. Fit adjustment wasn’t on to begin with, but my headset enters the loop anyway just with eye/facetracking being enabled. Seems to work fine with it paused.

If you don't mind me asking, do you regularly using Full Light Blockers?

I do, but until a couple days ago I never had an issue with face tracking while using the full light blocker. However, the issue still occurs even when not using the full light blocker.

The issue with the full light blocker is tyat it collects sweat into the headset which corrodes the LEDs that are used for face tracking, and destroys the circuitry. Every time I head of someone with this issue, I ask them if they were using the full light blocker, and so far my responsesbhave been 100% yes (about 7 or 8 responses so far). The full light blocker destroys face tracking on the quest pro, and it will require repairs

Personally I don't have the full light blocker. I first noticed the problem a few days after I had been playing Beat Saber though (which i have countless hours in with no issue). I probably got unlucky with sweat that day is all. I'm just going to start wearing a headband whenever I play physical games when I get my RMA

I’m having this same issue and turning off fit adjustment doesn't work. If you can tell me how you exactly did it to fix the face tracking that would be wonderful!
