Face Tracking/Eye Tracking problems With Quest Pro

gasolineprices

Hi.  I'm having problems with face tracking with my headset.  When I enable "Natural Face Expressions" my avatar just gives this dead stare and it won't properly track.  Even if Eye Tracking is enabled, the eyes wont move.  The only thing that will move is the mouth, but that is if a sound goes through the mic.  If I disable face tracking, and leave eye tracking enabled, the eyes move properly.

I've tried the fit adjustment feature, but it is bugged.  at first, it used to flicker, and give me the wrong IPD for my eyes (it tells me to move  60 when my IPD is a lot higher than that.  It also thinks 60 is = to 70 too.  The fit adjustment won't even tell me if my headset is unaligned with my head anymore)  And now, I can't even get the fit adjustment to work.  If i enable it now, I get trapped in this lost tracking loop.

All of this used to work.

I'm not sure if this is just a software problem, or a hardware problem.  Is there anything I can do on my end?

Thanks.

Hey there, @gasolineprices. We definitely understand your concerns with these issues you've run into while trying to use face tracking with natural expressions and eye tracking, we'd be glad to look into this with you! When did you notice that these features started giving you trouble? If it was right after an update, then that could be the cause. A factory reset would be a good step to take to try and get this resolved, and if that doesn't help then it's likely a bug report situation. Before performing a factory reset, ensure that your Cloud Backup settings are enabled. We'll leave the steps for a factory reset below for your convenience:

From the mobile app:

  • Open the mobile app on the paired device
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Settings
  • Select the paired Meta device
  • Tap More Settings
  • Tap Factory Reset
  • The device should now begin the Factory Reset process.

Let us know how it turns out!

The flickering has been happening since about v53, but I noticed the face tracking and eye tracking has been acting up in v54.  A factory rest has caused me not to be able to use eye or face tracking.  I get stuck in a infinite tracking  loop if anything face related is enabled.

Thanks for linking that thread! Out of curiosity, was any of the troubleshooting found in the linked thread able to solve your issue?

I wanted to verify if you're linking this thread to inform us where you found a solution or if you're having the similar issue mentioned within that thread.

Thanks for the clarification, in advance!

That thread stopped my "Tracking Lost" Loop.  Disabling eye and face tracking, and fit adjustment stops it, but if I turn any one of those back on, the loop starts again.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll go ahead and mark your reply as the solution in case anyone runs into this thread and is looking for some help.

It looks like our engineers are also aware of this issue, so there should be a permanent solution soon!

I started getting this today 😟 Came home from vacation excited to use my headset and now the face tracking is completely messed up. Was there ever a confirmed solution to this? The other thread about the tracking loop didn't fix the issue

Hey there, @LunaMellow. Thank you reaching back out about your issue with Face and Eye tracking with the Quest Pro. We wanted to go ahead and ask a few more questions so we can get this sorted for you.

Were you able to go into turn off the fit adjustment settings in display

Turn off the face and eye tracking and then turn them back on.

Afterward  shake the controller and then reboot the headset. if you haven't here is how.

To restart your headset:

  1. With your headset on and powered on, press and hold the power button on the right side of your headset until you see the Power off screen.
  2. Select Restart. Your headset will turn off and then turn back on.

If you're unable to restart your headset:

  1. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. This will manually turn off your headset.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the power button until your headset turns back on.

Please let us know how this goes. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
