GTX 1070 8GB - DVI works, HDMI does not. But HDMI port works to the TV

So just as the title says, I have a GTX 1070 8GB - DVI works, HDMI does not. Yet HDMI works to the TV.

I initially went through the setup. Used DVI to HDMI to my TV (which works), then when I plugged the headset in, the setup even said ok and it sees it. But then when its time to put the headset on, nothing. I swap from HDMI to DVI, it works. I know the HDMI port on my video card works, because it works going to my TV. I know the cord works on my headset, because DVI works.

So I am stumped, being the HDMI port works, why would it work to my TV, but not to my headset?

I'd recommend trying different adapters and/or cables and see if that works. It sounds like your Rift is fine, so it's most likely the cable connection. You should be able to use DVI-to-HDMI or DisplayPort-to-HDMI without any loss of quality (it's a digital signal).

I did try unplugging and re-seating. Maybe I'll try a new Rift cable. I wonder if they'll send me a replacement. I did purchase a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter today, and that works too. Only thing that doesn't work is HDMI direct. Yet that same HDMI port has no problem outputting to the TV. That same Rift cable has to problem with DVI or DisplayPort. Its so weird lol. Its just so irritating because I shouldn't need ANY adapters. I do believe DisplayPort offers a higher res vs DVI, doesn't it? So at least that works I guess.

It's a digital signal. Basically it will either work or not, but if it works it's full quality.

Had an issue a couple months back with someone else's card not letting them output signal through HDMI for VR while using the DVI at the same time. Anything in the GFX card's manual about the outputs for "VR Mode" operation vs. normal?
