Gear VR Oculus update causing high CPU usage

Cross posting this here.

Galaxy S7 Snapdragon

Woke up this morning and some Oculus update installed itself. Noticed my phone felt a bit laggy afterwards and felt a bit warm. Rebooted the phone, same problem. Checked a CPU monitor app, noticed it was never dipping below 50% (screenshot). The Oculus app(s) were only popping up with CPU usage occasionally though.

Rebooted phone again and cleared System Cache, same problem. Uninstalled the Oculus app and my CPU finally started calming down, problem solved.

Reading through some of the reddit comments, the issue may be this "Oculus Room" app constantly being reinstalled. I've opened a Support ticket regarding this issue.

S6 and Norton was blowing its top re-scanning the Room app. Battwry levels recovered since removing all Oculus apps...only way as Rooms refused to uninstall!

Same here, just hoping someone from Oculus reads this and finds a way to inform users once the issue is fixed, as having to remove the app altogether is a big bummer.

Sorry about this. We found the issue, and will be pushing a fix out shortly. Thanks.

Yes, VERY MUCH HOPING the fix is done. My S7 has been going nuclear all day and I was forced to turn it off as I don't have time to uninstall all the Oculus apps until COB.

One hour after Oculus starting to roll out the hotfix I've reinstalled the Oculus app and the problem is fixed.

Yes, the hot-fix update should be available now. You just need to uninstall Oculus Home first, and then Oculus Rooms (in that order) and then re-dock your phone. After you do that, it should download the latest working update. Thanks.
