Hey @aj_is.2fine! We would be more than happy to assist you with the error you received in VR chat. We would love to get you back in the chat! So that we can better understand the situation, we would like to ask a few questions.

  • Is the app downloaded from a Meta platform, or a third party, side-loading platform such as Steam or SideQuest?
  • Is the app downloaded and installed on the headset?
  • When did this start? Were any changes made?
  • Have you confirmed that your home world in VRchat is set to a compatible version?
  • Have you had any issues with any other apps crashing?

We look forward to hearing back from you and assisting you further!

Hey @aj_is.2fine. We are sorry to hear that after those troubleshooting methods there is still no improvement with VR Chat.. We do have more troubleshooting steps that you can do to get the issues resolved. Try the steps below:

  • In VR chat,, click the settings of "Gear" tab in the bottom of the Main Menu.
Scroll down to Debug on the left side, then click on it. Click on "Clear Content Cache" and "Clear Local Profile Data".
    Restart VR Chat

Let us know how those steps work out for you. Hope to hear back from you soon!

Ive also been having this issue. Ive checked my wifi, the connection is “excellent,” i dont have airlink enabled, my headset is all caught up on updates and so is VRChat itself. I restarted my headset 6 times, uninstalled and reinstalled VRChat twice, same error message pops up. I checked VRChat on my PC and it works perfectly fine, so it’s a problem coming from the headset. This problem has been occurring since I got the headset.

Hey there, @infranthax! Thank you for sharing your report. We'd love to look into this further together. To begin, we have some questions!

  • You mentioned that the PC version of the app works fine, but we weren't sure which mode you were experiencing the error on:
    • Does it occur when you try to use the app through the Oculus on the PC?
    • Or is the error only occurring for you when trying to use the app on standalone?
  • When using the app on your PC, can you make sure that your avatar and world are VR compatible?
  • When you said that your restarted your headset, how did you do it? A normal restart, hard reboot, or a factory reset?

We look forward to hearing back from you!
