Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this. The V71 Firmware release notes, mention several updates to LINK, so I wonder if this is related.
Good news: My link cable is finally working again without multiple disconnects.
Bad News: I no longer get the prompt about USB connection and I don't see the Quest 2 storage as a connection in Windows Explorer. Not really BAD news as I seldom used it... but there is some history here. Go ahead and keep reading if you are interested 🙂
History:
MANY revisions ago, there was a dialog along the lines of something like "DO you want to allow access to storage on the headset?" I always clicked YES, but one day I clicked NO and it was gone forever. I think I had to enable Developer mode and I got it back. Some time later, a firmware update removed the question, and just connected automatically with a message USB Connection established or something similar.
Some time later, my Link Cable was continually disconnecting making PCVR impossible. I went to using AIRLINK, but I was keeping the LINK CABLE connected for power. I continually heard the Windows tone indication Disconnect/Connect with concurrent messages in the headset. I switched LINK cables and it was no better. I began to suspect the port on the Headset was bad.
Last night, AUTOMAGICALLY, my LINK CABLE works again with no disconnects. In the LINK Connection screen it now says PC instead of the old RIFT, which I guess is a good thing. But, as mentioned above, I no longer get any connection to the headset storage. HONESTLY I will take a functioning cable connection over that, but I am curious as to what happened.

@Recluse205 good news about your the flaky meta software finally working with your link cable again.
As you've got a dev account you could always use the free Sidequest PC app to see files and move them, much like you can do with win explorer.

A little update... not sure if it is good news or bad news yet: The Link Client on PC downloaded several updates including drivers. Afterwards, I saw the USB Connect popup again, but, unfortunately also started seeing the old Disconnects along with the Windows tones. After restarting the headset and reconnecting, the LINK did seem to stay connected but it did drop a few times unlike the behavior I noted above where it was ROCK SOLID.
As an aside: Just about EVERY TIME I power down my headset, it seems there is an Update Queued. I realize these could be APP UPDATES and not just OS/Firmware updates. It would be a HUGE Quality of Life Improvement to have SOME INDICATION of what updates were pending.

Another update... Looks like my LINK CABLE is broken again with V72. Constant disconnects and windows tones/USB connection popup. Had to go back to Airlink.
Will try again to see if it was a momentary thing or if there will be another PC Link App update.

Just continually updating here. My Link cable has worked/broke/worked/broke with each successive update. Currently broken again. NOTHING changes with my system or practices. I don't understand how a fundamental capability like LINK cable keeps getting broken. I have to say that one of the signs that it is going to break is the USB CONNECTED message, so it seems like that is the fragile part. When my LINK CABLE works, I almost never see that message. When it is going to break, I see that message and then it constantly resets with the Windows chimes.
AIRLINK works, so I am OK for my PC VR, but it is just incredible to me why this is not a stable function. When it works, it works flawlessly for HOURS at a time. Otherwise, constant disconnects within 15-20 min or less.
EDIT: 19-DEC: Last night I got an update on the PC Side to the LINK software. FOR NOW Cable seems to be working again..
Not really looking for a SOLUTION (I doubt there is one) just trying to figure out if I am the ONLY ONE seeing this, in which case, I guess I need to dig deeper into my own setup.
