My kiddos were playing gorilla tag today. It’s rated for everyone I get that. I got on after I heard some language and was surprised at how quickly I was being harassed and bullied I’m assuming from kids. I need to know how to shut the chat off I’m not good with the games but keep an ear out and don’t want my kids interacting with people on this game after what I experienced. How do you shut the chat off?

Hey there, @NinjaMan7! We couldn't help but notice that you are reaching out because you are concerned with the language that your children are being exposed to on Gorilla Tag. We certainly get how disappointing something like that can be that can be and why you'd want to protect your little ones from that type of behavior, so we'd be more than happy to help you out with this! Once you turn the game on, there should be a computer icon. Once you click on that icon, you should be able to enable or disable voice chat. Option 1 should enable it while Option 2 disables it. Please let us know how this works out for you. We will be standing by just in case further assistance is needed!

Hey again @NinjaMan7, as mentioned, voice communications can be disabled from the in-game computer. Also keep in mind that ESRB ratings usually do not include online interactions. We highly recommend you check out the Parent Controls Education Hub too. Let us know if you still need assistance with anything else!

Hey, I am thankful you logged this. I am stunned that there is now way of reporting this and meta basically say that your only option is to not experience the game properly and turn off chat. Why isn't there an option to report and block. i have literally just experienced my son listening to most horrendous abusive language I could think of and they did not sound like young kids. I just cant believe that a company like meta cannot trace people abusing their policies. I am all for free speech etc but they know that these games have many young users and this cannot be right. Ia ma literally having to stop him playing anything that has online chat. He was in a classroom VR room a few days ago and that was just as bad.

Hi there @cappy.364933,
We understand that it is important for your son to be safe online and that online interactions are open to bad actors who can spoil the experience for other players. In order to combat this, you can report users who have broken our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences (CCVE) by pressing the Meta button on the controller and then selecting Report abuse from the universal menu. Your report will go to the app developer to review and take action. App developers are responsible for governing their community, and therefore are responsible for reviewing the reports they receive. You can find more information about reporting users in our article here.
However, we recognise that this won't stop your son from occasionally encountering the kind of behaviour you described, and so a safer option would be to mute voice chat from other players. We understand that this is not an ideal solution, as this removes some of the functionality of the game, but this is the best way to ensure that your son doesn't hear abusive language in Gorilla Tag and other games.
