Yes. The old Oculus accounts were going to start being deleted in 2024. You will need to upgrade it to a Meta account to keep your stuff going. Everything should transfer over, you won't lose games or anything (although sometimes people accidentally end up making a new Meta account instead of upgrading an Oculus account).
A Meta account is unrelated to Facebook accounts, it's a newer version of the Oculus account with less restrictions than Facebook accounts.
I received an email today with the following comment:
On 10/31/22 we emailed you regarding your Oculus account and the need to migrate to a Meta account to continue using Meta VR products. Your Oculus account is now scheduled for deletion on 03/29/24.
I already migrated to a Meta account from the Facebook account so why am I getting this? Can you please tell me what is going on and what I can do to fix it so I don't lose anything?
I got this same email today on my second email which as far as I know doesn't have anything related with Oculus/Meta other than an instagram account, do I still need to do this if this email is not the email of my main account? I really don't want to lose any of my games and it judt doesn't seem clear enough. I don't understand why they would mail me on my second email. Thanks! (P.S sorry if I'm supossed to make a new issue)
I also just got this email. Opened a ticket with Meta about it. A friend of mine said he read something about a Vietnamese group of some sort having "cracked into Meta emails" and is now wreaking havoc. Not sure if that's what's going on or some sort of error happened.
I did as well. Of course it would be nice that a company that is known for harvesting every bit of personal information possible would make THEIR damned contact phone number available somewhere.
Guess my son lost all his stuff... Didn't get an email until 3:21am about this. Followed the directions but nothing in the order options. Man, that was a lot of money lost.
