Guardian can't be set up- no option to proceed-

Hi, I have just got my oculus and I can’t set the guardian up, it won’t give me the option to click on it to set it up it just has a square with an arrow on it that you can’t click on.
I think I may have missed something during the set up?
it is giving me the option to pass through but when I do that it just goes dark.
Any advice will be really appreciated  🙏🏻

thanks

kim

@kimmah.2023, we see you're having some issues with your headset. We understand that this may feel like a standstill, and we want to get you moving again. We hope that we can assist with the matter. Please try rebooting the headset if you haven't previously, this might nudge the headset in the right direction. If this doesn't work you might need to factory reset the headset. Are you in the set up stages of signing into the headset? If not. you might want to see if you can back up any data on the headset to the cloud.  Please let us know what you tried and if that helped with the situation.

This is happening to us too. This is our second headset. The factory reboot killed the first one. Oculus may be shipping brand new headsets without the Guardian toggled on? Everything I see says go to Developer in the settings, but I don't have that option in my settings. The square with arrow doesn't do anything. Passthrough just goes black.

Hi there, @HellCatLemur. Thanks for reaching out and letting us know of the troubles your having with setting up the Guardian.  We know having a working boundary helps keep you immersed in the VR world, so we'd love to help out. In order to gain some insight, could you answer the following:

Has your Guardian worked before?
Were there any changes recently made to the play area?
Are there many reflective surfaces around? (If so, attempt to cover or move them so as to not mess with the cameras)
How is the lighting in the room? (Please be sure it's not too dark or too bright)
What all have you tried already? (So to not have you repeat any steps)
Along with this, if you  haven't already. You can attempt to reboot your headset with the following:

Turn off the headset.
Hold the Power and Volume Down button together until the menu loads.
Use the Volume Buttons to highlight Boot Device and press the Power Button.

We'll be looking forward to your update!

The guardian hasn’t worked before , it has never given me an option to set it up 🤷‍:female_sign:

Reboot hasn’t worked either .

Hey there, @kimmah.2023. Thanks for the reply and letting us know that the Guardian has never worked. We would like to provide some troubleshooting steps that we believe may be beneficial to you.

Have you done a factory rest on the headset? If not, here is how. First, please do a cloud backup, as this will save your data.

Cloud backup:

  1. Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select System, then select Backup.
  4. Select the toggle next to Cloud Backup to turn Cloud Backup on or off.

To perform a factory reset using your phone:

Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.

Tap Devices in the bottom menu.

Tap the headset connected to your phone.

Tap Advanced Settings.

Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

Turn off your headset.

Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.

Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.

Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Please let us know how this works out and if you have any questions.
