Hi
The new and much desired Meta HDMI Link app (announced on the Meta Quest blog today) does not appear to work at all currently with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K or the ATEM Mini Pro - both of which have USB-C UVC web cam outputs . The camera has this feature as of Camera update 8.6 which is installed and working with all other tested computers - the ATEM has this as a standard feature.
The HDMI Link app reports that all permissions are granted but cannot see the USB camera or ATEM input - "No USB capture card detected"
This is on a Quest 3 currently on version 68.0.0.566.364 (not PTC or Developer mode) .
As stated, both the camera and ATEM work perfectly using the same cables on multiple Windows 11 PCs and show up as normal web cams on OBS/Zoom/Meet/etc. Standard 1920x1080 60fps output.
I read the blog post announcing the app multiple times and have followed instructions to the letter. There is no list of tested devices (which would be helpful, especially if I have to buy something else to make this work).
Is anyone else having issues or successes with using the HDMI Link app? What hardware are you using?
Thanks

Hi there @GooHoob! Thanks for reaching out about this. We understand you are having issues with the HDMI link app. We would like to inform you that the capture cards won't display video if the HDMI signal has HDCP protection enabled. If this doesn't work, contact the manufacturer of the capture card. There is also more info in this link. We hope this helps.
Have a great day!

I have done all those steps (apart from one):
Done - multiple times - with various cables (all of which work on camera/atem to computer )
Blackmagic documentation assures me this is the case.
No alternate ports available. Only one USB-C port.
?? - App does not appear in my library so cannot be uninstalled... unless I am missing something?
Done -multiple times
Also , since the camera and ATEM are designed for professional environments there is no HDCP on the HDMI inputs.. again, all this works perfectly between camera/ ATEM and any of my computers using the same cables.
So I would ask that you please reach out to the app developers and ask if this is a known issue, whether it can be fixed at their end and if not, what are some working devices that have been tested on the headset?
Anyone else reading this thread - Have you tried the app with Blackmagic or other cameras? Or if you are using a capture card, which one is working (or not working) for you?
Thanks

Hey @GooHoob! We cannot guarantee that any third party accessories or products will work with ours, we recommend contacting the manufacture of the capture card. You can also report a bug here. We hope this helps.
Have a legendary rest of your day!

Hi again! We're just checking in to see if you still require any assistance with this issue? If so, please do not hesitate to get back in touch!

Yes, I have checked the camera is working with a different app and I would like the developers to update their app to support more camera/capture cards.
UPDATE: I have sideloaded the "USB Camera" app from APKPure and tested it with the Blackmagic cameras/ATEM on the Quest 3, and the cameras and app seem to work fine together at 1920x1080 60fps . When trying the Meta "HDMI Link" app after installing the "USB Camera" app , the camera was recognized and a permission popup appeared, but unfortunately the video decoding failed , leaving a black screen... When retrying with "USB Camera" , the camera/ATEM was recognized, permissioned and was sending a clear picture at the correct frame rate.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance on any third party accessories. So, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer of the product as this will be the best place for you to potentially find a solution!
We hope you enjoy your day.

Hmmm...
1) There are no first party accessories that work with this app...
2) There has been no known list of supported cards/cameras, so far...
3) The Blackmagic camera I have told you about works perfectly with a different app on the same Meta Quest 3... so the camera hardware does not seem to be at fault. The logical conclusion is that the Meta app needs some work to make it more compatible (note the amount of one star reviews on the store page related to other non working cards).
So the correct response would probably be something to the effect of:
"Thank you for letting us know , we will pass this information on to the developers and hopefully they can improve the app in the future..."
Have a wonderful day

Hey there, @GooHoob. We do appreciate your feedback, especially on a new feature. We do recommend you post your ideas for improvement in the Ideas forum. We have implemented and made changes to our software and hardware based on suggestions posted there. While we do understand this is different from the answer you are looking for, as mentioned earlier, this is a relatively new program with a lot of adjustments that can be made. Please keep an eye out for future patch notes. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
