HELP.

Heya! So, I factory reset my headset like a year ago and eventually gave up on it because no matter what I did it wouldn’t work. The headset is a Quest 2, and the issue is that when factory reseted you have to do the device setup thing. The “skip button” is absent on the part where you have to pull the plastic pieces out of the controllers, and I don’t have them anymore so I’m stuck.

Also I tried resetting my left controller because after putting new batteries in it decided to not work still.

What do I do?

@valerie.9420  firstly, take the batteries out of the controllers. Now, start the setup process. When you get to the part where it asks you to 'pull the plastic pieces out of the controllers' put the batteries back in [which does the same thing as pulling the plastic tabs out]  Now the headset should see the controllers and you should be able to complete the setup process.

I'm not entirely sure that removing the batteries is the same as removing the tabs. Out of the box, the controllers are not paired to anything via bluetooth, so when you remove the tabs they are automatically placed in pairing mode. After a headset factory reset, the controllers are still paired (as far as they know) with the headset, but the headset has forgotten them. Instead of pulling out tabs at that point, you have to place the controllers into pairing mode manually by holding down the menu and B/Y on each controller for about 4 seconds.

@user_901925786032222  this is a very good point. I think many casual users users of the headset may not be able to progress much beyond this point, if they've reset the headset and are trying to follow the setup instructions to the letter and the controllers aren't automatically pairing.

At a bare minimum, the factory reset instructions on the Meta website should include this as a supplementary step.
