Hacked Instagram Account – Phishing Link Involved, ID Submitted, Still Awaiting Recovery

Hi Meta Support,

My Instagram account @bridge.collette was recently hacked through a phishing link. The hacker also created a fake account using my photo and name (@brid.gecollette). I was able to gain access to that fake account and secure it, but I’m still locked out of my original account.

I already submitted the hacked account form and sent in my ID for verification. My phone number and email were not changed on the account, but the hacker turned on two-factor authentication, which is stopping me from getting back in.

I also reported the phishing link and the fake accounts. The phishing site has now been suspended.

I’m not sure if my case is being reviewed yet, but I would appreciate any help in recovering my account and turning off the hacker’s two-factor authentication.

we’re sorry to hear that your Instagram account was hacked, however as community managers we aren’t able to assist you with this directly. We can help with Meta Quest related issues but unfortunately we lack the ability to assist with Instagram account issues.
