Hand Tracking is acting weird

Molotov

For some reason, when I'm trying to use the hand tracking, it acts kind of weird and I don't know if it's something that's supposed to happen or not.

When I'm trying to press buttons, it works fine. However, when I'm trying to do the pinching thing from a distance, this is where things are acting up.

For start, the sensitivity of the pinching seems to be inconsistent. Sometimes I have to make sure both of my fingers touch each other for buttons to be pressed, but then there were moments where even if I bring the finger slightly closer to each other without pinching. Iay end up accidentally selecting things.

Another thing I noticed is that when I'm trying to aim arrow (or citcle in that case) It feels like it's being pulled to different directions.Another thing that I noticed is that when my hands stem these stills the arrows for some reason keep moving around. They're also moving around when I'm trying to aim them for something I want to press on which makes aiming difficult.Another thing that I noticed is that when my hands stem these stills the arrows for some reason keep moving around. Are my headset faulty? Is this normal?

Hey there, @Molotov! We'd like you to have a smooth experience navigating your headset via hand tracking, so we're eager to help! For a bit of clarification on this situation overall, has hand tracking ever worked properly on your headset in the past? When did this issue begin? And, have you tried using hand tracking in a different play space? Also, so we don't repeat any, what troubleshooting steps have you already tried? Keep us updated and we can continue from there!

I had not tried it in a different space, however I was able to use another headset in the same space to see if there will be any different results. The results were the same, so it most likely was just a false alarm.

Alright, @Molotov, thanks for letting us know! We're pretty glad that you were able to test another headset in that spot. Really good thinking! If you're having any issues with a different play environment moving forward, we wanted to share some tips below to make sure your headset is able to see your hands. Let us know if you have any questions or have any further issues:

  • Make sure your playing environment is not too bright, oversaturating the camera or has any interfering lights (like Christmas lights, LED strips, direct sun exposure, etc.)
  • Make sure your playing environment isn't too dark, and therefore preventing the tracking cameras from working properly due to lack of lighting.
  • Make sure your playing environment doesn't contain reflective surfaces, which can interfere with the tracking cameras (like mirrors, television screens, window reflections, glasses, polished marbles, etc.)
  • Make sure your playing environment has enough contrast between the objects and textures composing it (like  varnished wood furniture and parquet floors, all white walls, etc.)
  • Clean the tracking cameras on your headset using the approved methods listed here.
