Chatted with the Synth Rider Devs, and they told me Meta has told them that haptics are currently broken for the Quest 3. There is an issue where if the controllers get hit together, they disable the haptics. So basically, when the controllers are vibrating too much they think they are getting "hit" and disable their own haptics. The only solution is to lower the haptic feedback, but that kind of sucks due to the Quest 3 controllers having a smaller less intense motor than the Quest 2 to begin with. So in order for the controllers to work at all you have to lower them till you barely feel them. Note: the SR Devs told me this not only happens in Synth Rider but other games as well, and it's out of their hands till Meta fixes the issue. LAME.
Here are some other ways the Synth Rider Devs told me Haptics are broken on Quest 3:
PLEASE FIX THIS META!

Hey there, @PeterCTucker! I hope that you've been doing well. I wanted to let you know that, in case you're still having this issue, I heard back from our engineering teams. They let me know that if you've tried all the troubleshooting available for the controllers, the best thing to do would be to submit a report so that our engineers can look into this further, or to reach out to support to review what warranty options might be available for you. Hope this helps!

Pinging@tfosseli so he might do a video on this issue, as it looks to be a major problem.

Thank you so much for watching my content. Although I'm aware that videos with titles like "it's getting worse" or "It's not over" that focus on criticizing Meta would garner more views, that simply isn't the goal of my channel. My channel is dedicated to celebrating and offering solutions to Tech, Games and VR, and the truth is, I genuinely want Meta's VR platform to succeed. Frankly, the issue you're describing seems relatively low on the mountain of problems they are currently facing.
My recent videos, "Was Quest 3 rushed?" and the follow-up "Meta support is overwhelmed," were kind of like open letters expressing my disappointment. Unfortunately, they did drop the ball on the Quest 3. QA testing wasn't thorough enough, and shortcuts led to a heap of small problems snowballing into a big one.
In my videos, I didn't even touch on the controllers, but I should mention that the haptics aren't as big of an issue as the general tracking. They use partial AI and hand tracking, which is great for subtle movements, but it falls short when you dive into fast-paced games like Beat Saber and Synth Rider.
To improve the tracking, you can try disabling hand tracking and the "tap controller to activate" in the settings. It helps for fast-paced games, but it messes with subtle tracking, so it's a bit of a trade-off.
Now, I get that the pro controllers are a better option with their onboard processes and additional cameras, but let's be real, not many regular consumers have the budget for that. Making Quest 3 compatible with Quest 2 controllers, with their ring IR light, could be a simpler solution.
As for the haptic issue, I believe it'll get sorted out. In the last update, they tackled concerns about Microphone Quality with a nifty AI solution. They also brought back Chromecast just two weeks after removing it, all thanks to community feedback. They are definitely tuned in, scanning everything on forums, Reddit, and YouTube. But not everything has a quick fix, and some issues are just tricky.
One area they need to improve is being more vocal by giving a nod to let us know that they hear us. However, they have superiors who are cautious about setting false expectations, especially when they are unsure about fixes.
So, please keep reporting problems like this, both here and in the headset. They're listening, and I'm confident things will gradually get better.
Though I will make a video soon, compiling many of the tips and tricks that people have discovered to enhance aspects such as Wi-Fi, tracking, battery life, and more.
I'm sticking to that optimism. Thanks again for your vote of confidence!

It's still busted. And I tried everything you guys suggested plus what the Synth Rider team suggested.
