Has the latest update bricked my quest 3?

I used my q3 to watch the F1 quali and was woking fine. I took it off during an ad break and when I put it back on it had a black screen. I pushed the power button once and an image of a cpu (?) with a down arrow with a green progress bar below it came on, I assume that this is a firmware update ?? 

The progress bar completed then the blue meta m appeared revolving for a while then turning on and off about every 2 seconds. It continued doing this for hours so I put it on charge and left it in this state overnight.

This morning it was still doing the same blue m on 2 seconds off 2 seconds. I tried to reboot it but nothing happened. I tried holding down the power button for longer and longer (upto a minute) but when I release the button it just reverts to blue m again.

After reading these forums I found the volume down power button menu and tried most of the options including finally a factory reset. The result of all of them (power cycle, reboot, reset) was that when the headset restarted iit went strait to the firmware download loop as above. This is all it will do.

I am so frustrated, there is no way to talk to anyone about this or get help !!

As an update to this, Meta confirmed that the device was unrepairable after this update error but refused to offer any further help due to me having bought the new headset from eBay.
