Headset Screen Drifts away

realityescapebregenz
Honored Guest
We've been having problems with our Quest 3 glasses for some time now. We always send them back, but I think the problem could be solved by ourselves.

I'll try to explain it:
The headset works completely normally, and suddenly the image starts to spin in circles - like a gyroscope - I stopped this this time with a sideload update - but the headset still spontaneously spins the image in circles again without warning.

Is sending it back really the only solution? Otherwise we'd be happy to fix it ourselves if we knew what the problem was.

Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to the Meta Support Team about your issue with the image spinning in circles on your headset.

We're eager to get to the bottom of this so that you can get back to gaming asap!

This issue may be caused by a problem with tracking, including the following:

  • Playing environment is too bright, oversaturating the camera, or has interfering lights
    • Resolution: Adjust the intensity of lights, try turning some lights off, reduce sun exposure or use curtains/blinders
  • Playing environment is too dark, preventing the tracking cameras working properly due to lack of lighting
    • Resolution: Turn some light on, open curtains/blinders

The issue may also be caused by:

Playing environment contains reflective surfaces, interfering with the tracking cameras.

- Resolution: covering the reflective surfaces while playing, play in a different location
Playing environment does not have enough contrast between objects or textures composing it

- Resolution: Play in a different location
Dirty tracking cameras

- Resolution: Cleaning the tracking cameras by following the product care and best practices

Please don't hesitate to get back to us if you need any further assistance!

All the best,

Hey - we got 14 Quest 3 in the Same Enviroment - and only one headset does this drifting when all other in the same enviroment works well

Thanks for the confirmation!

There is a few more steps you can try to fix this

- Make sure the tracking is turned on

- By default, the headset will use 6DoF tracking, unless it has been turned off in the Guardian settings panel or lost tracking while in VR.

- Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu > Select Settings > Select System from the Settings panel > Select Headset Tracking from the left side panel > Make sure Headset Tracking is ticked

- Clear your boundary history

- Bear in mind that if you have multiple accounts on the same headset, boundary history will be cleared for all accounts, not just the account you are currently using.

- Press the Oculus/Meta logo on your right controller > Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu > Select Settings > In the settings panel, select Boundary > Select 'Clear Boundary history' > Redraw your Guardian boundaries by selecting 'Adjust Boundary' from the Boundary settings menu

Please let us know once you've tried these steps so we can assist further.
