Headset bricked? After v76 update

Ninjawars

I’ve just “updated” my quest 3 headset to version 76.

it looked like the update was going fine:

- it downloaded

- restarted

- I got the screen of the chip being updated

- then I got the black screen with “metahorizonos” and the meta logo.

-then it went dark for about an hour.

i tried restarting the headset and I got the dark screen with the meta logo not spinning for about 2 minutes, then the logo spins about 30 seconds, then the screen just goes dark.

I’ve tried restarting a few times already and keep getting the same thing.

I know what’s coming, “factory reset your headset”.

1. Is this the only course of action available to fix the problem?

2. What if a factory reset doesn’t work.

3. Should I just use my headset as a decorative piece?

Hi again.

An update on my situation.

After I restarted the headset 10+ times without any success, I turned it off and left it for a few hours.

When I came back, I restarted it a few more times and I was thrown back into v74.

I was happy about that but I still wanted to update to v76. So, I ran the update again and this time I was greeted with a looping meta logo. I restarted the headset about 4-5 times and it finally started with the v76 updates.

I'm glad I didn't factory reset it.

  1. If you have tried restarting the headset multiple times and the result is the same, then the next step is the factory reset.
  2. What if it does? You won't know if you don't try. Why don't you cross that bridge if you get to it.
  3. You could. Maybe paint it or add a floral arrangement in the middle!!! Get creative!!! (make a smart-ass comment get a smart-ass answer)

It's a 600 dollar paperweight rn till YOUS fix the problem I'm the consumer not the manufacturer...

Exact same thing happened to my headset yesterday, The fact I’m not the only 1 gives me hope that it’s some kind of bug they can fix hopefully.

This is a user forum. Unless you see a Meta logo we don't work for Meta.

I was answering the questions asked.

Direct and to the point. He came in here acting like a child so I treated him like one. I lined up the questions and answered them one after another.

If you want help come on in and ask! We are here to offer support to other gamers and Quest users.

If you are going to come in here and piss and moan and complain about what is suggested that needs to be done to test and try to fix the problems… Expect to get a response that is just as rude as the attitude you shared.
