Headset stuck in Passthrough, no controller settings and no menus

Hi @MetaQuestSupport,

I have had the above problem since I got my Quest 3 headset. Sometimes, when I boot the headset, I am either stuck in passthrough, OR I come into the Quest environment, but I cannot see my controllers, and there are no menus to click on. This is intermittent, but happens more often than not.

The only way I can continue is to reboot the headset and try again. Sometimes it works after one try or sometimes it takes 2 or 3.

I have tried deleting my boundaries and recreating but it makes no difference.

My headset has two profiles, my dad's as the owner and my own profile as a sub profile so I can family share my dad's library.

When it glitches and I am logged on as me, I can see the home environment with the mirror/avatar setting options, but it is showing my dad's avatar. If I click on the mirror, I can see my Dad's avatar to change, with my avatar in the corner. It is as if the headset has confused which account is using it.

The headset has been updated to the latest version. The problem happens where ever I try to play.

When it works, all functionality works fine, so this seems to be more of a software issue than hardware, though I guess there could be a sensor issue.

Any thoughts on what to try next before I return it for repair?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Syphon_007 🙂

Probably it's not a problem of the headset, but a software issue.

V74 - I assume this is your current headset version - is buggy for secondary accounts in many ways.
There are a lot of posts about problems with additional accounts.

Search - Meta Community Forums

There is not much you can do, other than sending a bug report and waiting for a fix from Meta.

Report a bug on Meta Quest | Quest help | Meta Store

Luckily, the rollout of V76, which maybe/hopfully fix the issue, started on April 8th.
You should receive the update within the next days/weeks.

@Choleni thanks so much for your reply - this makes much more sense now, I was worried there was an issue with the headset, but understanding it is software related is a little reassuring.

What is less reassuring is that the issue still appears to exist in V76 (according to some users), however as least it is known.

I will report a bug, as potentially the more people that report it the better.

Thanks again for getting back to me - much appreciated!
