Hello,
It seems that while this is a common issue in this community, the solutions seems to change frequently and often depending on when and what updates and software your computer has which is why i am asking again.
I got a CV1 and tried setting it up with the meta driver, and selected oculus rift. When plugging in my cords, the usb detected completely fine, but the hdmi cable doesnt seem to register in the application, despite being registered by my pc.
I have tried the following:
Unplugging and replugging
Reinstalling the software
uninstalling the driver that windows auto generated for my headset and then reinstalling with the hdmi cord still connected
I am going to try unplugging and restarting my pc and trying to connect again but something tells me this won't work, but ill let u know if it does
I am aware that rolling back on graphics cards or updates may solve the issue. but i have no idea how to do so without tanking my pc's performance for all my other applications and games. More importantly, I don't know what to roll it back to or how.
I am also aware of the solution involving using an adaptor to plug it into the digital media cable (i think thats what its called it looks like the hdmi cable with a flat side) but i do not own an adapter and would prefer to not make a purchase before exhausting all other solutions.
Please help me I am so confused,

i had to actually freaking do a fresh install . with all my other hard drives disconnected at first. and disabling microsoft from updating new drivers and downgraded from windows 11 to windows 10 pro and now my rift cv-1s both work . i bought another one because i thought it was the cable or the headset. so got a replacement headset and cable. and still had the same problem nothing would work with it until like i formatted the drive.. and installed windows using a usb stick even when i did the fresh install windows reset crap. or installed a new windows 11 right over the old one.. for some reason rift wouldnt recognize hdmi connection issue? tried a usb hub thats powered.. got a pci express usb adapter specifically for vr so i knew i would be ok usb wise for sim racing. and i tried everything u did and more. and i ended up buying a quest 1 with controllers mad cheap offf ebay i think 2 controllers the rift s/quest 1 controllers anda quest 1 64gb version for 40$ . then like 10 bucks on a cable. but i gotta buy another cable because didnt know that needed special setup to get it to charge while racing n using it
