Help Pairing Meta Quest 3

UPDATE 10/16: Hi everyone! There's a new version of the Meta Quest Android app that just went live which has some fixes for pairing issues. Primarily, this is for the Xperia devices, but it should help pairing for other Android devices as well. If you're still unable to pair your headset with the app, please make sure you've updated to version 233.5.1.18.115+ and give it another try. You may need to uninstall and re-install to get that version, but it should update automatically.

We've seen some reports of pairing issues with new Meta Quest 3s. The most important thing is to make sure that you've updated your app to the latest version. There's a brand new version of the Meta Quest app, v233.4+ that is available.

If you're not seeing an option to add Quest 3 in your app, make sure you're updated and then fully close your Meta Quest app. Then reopen the app and try adding your Quest 3 again. Also, please note that you need to have Bluetooth and sharing with nearby devices enabled in order to connect with your headset.

**We've noticed a trend with Sony Xperia devices having some pairing issues and are investigating it. If you have a Sony Xperia phone and are unable to pair your Meta Quest 3 to your app, please try using a different device to pair your headset.

Some additional steps we've seen working, especially with the Sony Xperia devices are:

  1. On Quest 3, advance through the setup until you can select the "Use a QR code from the Meta Quest mobile app"
  2. In the Meta Quest mobile app, navigate to the "Pair a new device" screen and select the "Meta Quest 3"
  3. Select the "Use a QR code from this app" option
  4. Enter Wi-Fi information and scan the QR code via Quest 3
  5. In the Meta Quest mobile app, continue through the setup through the avatar, and permissions screens.
  6. When the "Looking for headset" screen appears, it will fail to find the Quest 3
  7. Restart the phone
  8. Launch your mobile app again.
  9. This should bring up a "Continue setting up your Quest 3?" prompt and you can select "Continue setup"
  10. This time, the Quest 3 should be able to be found.

Verified I'm not in a double NAT situation. (I've had to resolve this previously)

Deleted and reinstalled Oculus software.

Verified my home network is not set to Public.

Turned off firewall for Private network.

Completely deleted antivirus software.

Verified Windows is UTD.

Tried both 2.4GHz and 5GHz on WiFi.

Reboots galore both PC and headset.

Toggled WiFi and Air Link several times.

Set up Link via USB first and tried Air Link again.

Verified my GPU drivers are UTD.

Verified my PC specs are (more than) sufficient.

Can you try clearing the Bluetooth cache on your phone? Then reboot the phone and try again?

The steps should be something like this:

  1. To do this, open Settings, and then swipe to and tap Apps.
  2. Tap the Sort icon (the down arrow with three vertical bars), then tap Show system apps.
  3. Tap OK and all the system apps will appear in the list.
  4. Tap Bluetooth, tap Storage, and then tap Clear data. Tap OK to confirm.

Didn't see this until now, but thankfully, one factory reset and multiple attempts at entering in the 5 digits, managed to finally pair the device 😌

I got my Q3 yesterday (about 20 hours ago) and I didn't have any issues setting up or pairing it with my iPhone 12 mini.  Just lucky I guess, lol!  All's working great so far with both Link and Air Link, together with the latest non-PTC v57 updates.  Once I've had a bit more time on my new Q3 I'll try to give a comparison review (Q2 vs QPro vs Q3).  Probably in about a week's time.  First impressions are not always very useful imho.

After much time spent unsuccessfully trying to pair with my iPhone 6s iOS 15.7.9, I decided to try the Oculus App using my iPad Pro 3rd Gen iPadOS 17.0.3 instead of and it worked right off the bat!

Hi everyone, we've got some new steps to try out that have been working specifically with the Sony Xperia mobile devices. If nothing else has worked, try out these steps:

Let us know how it goes, and if it doesn't work, at what point did things not go according to plans?
