Its on the old Oculus Rift, not Oculus Rift S

Yep. Meta just deleted it. In fact, they didn't actually delete it... because you can still see your home data if you log into your profile on the website and go to "places". They just actively disabled the HOME app from running, at all... for no apparent (or good) reason. They hate you, they hate me. Welcome to corporate hell.

No matter if Rift, Rift S or Quest with link....all pc users have only the white grid now.

You can't recreate your home....Meta don't support pc homes anymore.

I included a link to their statement in a post above.

Agreed. I didn't buy this thing because I wanted to build a cute dollhouse to play in.

That's your personal opinion because you can only speak for yourself. It's never a bad thing for a company to offer options. It's not like anyone is forcing you to use the "dollhouse" to play in. It was optional to begin with.

A lot of people liked the concept of having a living room like the novel/movie 'Ready Player One'. And Meta doing away with that, only to add an over-simplified environment that a player can't place trophies in or explore is very short-sighted on their part.

I think what some people are failing to realize is that the stuff in our home was not bought. It was earned over years. Oculus did what no one else had done and turned achievements into physical trophies we walked around everyday. Every platform from the beginning has offered its players a way to track progress. It started with high score boards in arcades and turned into achievements with later consoles. This was the next generation and it was a great idea. Records and goals were marked by cool physical objects that flew around or made your place look cool. All of these trophies were earned over years. I am upset they cleared my high score board…..

For me it was simply enjoyable to be in a peaceful environment like Home once in a while. It was very relaxing. I never actually placed a lot of the items earned over the years but it was good to know it was there. Now I feel like Meta is just some impersonal inferior version of the original.

So my issue is pretty simple, but I have tried the only solution posted on the forums and it did not work, which was to change the environment variables on my PC.

My Link home environment just won't load. It's been working  fine since I got the Quest 2 a few years back, but suddenly quit some time in the last two weeks.

When I connect through Link, I am loaded to the white grid of eternity  and am stuck there, no Home button on my bar, and I never load into my custom home where all my items are stored and where I drop in at least once a week (usually; was sick so didnt log in for a couple weeks) to pick up my free items and decorate a little or play a game.

Now, I just can't seem to reach it no matter what I do.

Anyone know what is happening?

PC specs below, though like I said, its been working fine for years. I play Half Life: Alyx, and everything else I play on Link, on maximum visual settings.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100 CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Meta deleted Home. That's why it's not working. They removed it, with nothing to replace it. Hooray for blind/deaf corporate decisions.

Wait..... are you telling me that all of the stuff I collected / EARNED, all my trophies from games, all the extras I got for that home from BUYING games, which was part of the allure of buying them from the store instead of from third party.... are all gone, and I will never get them back nor access to my Link home ever again?

Is that really true? Because when I bought it, that was a feature that was advertised as part of the Link experience. It was also shown when I bought my expensive Link cable.

I spent a lot of time on preparing my Link home and getting ready to dive into social interactions; as a disabled person who stays at home all of the time, it was maybe a little more important to me than to many.

I really hope this is either not true, or something that wasn't fully thought through - which it wasn't, if this is really true, considering the impact... I cant move from a bed so, it was therapeutic to have my own creative space there and so I put it to use. Did anyone consider that kind of factor when making this decision?

I guess I'll just wait for the reply, and hope for the best. Already was pretty upset with the experience with so many games discriminating against the disabled by not having any accessibility - and the complete lack of helpfulness when trying to get those issues addressed.... and now this?

Really hope I am misunderstanding something here and will be logging into my Link home to collect my weekly items - as well as the rewards that SHOULD be there from me playing games, and that I went out of my way to get, soon on my  Quest 2. If I could do it before, theres no reason I shouldn't be able to now, and no one informed me of this change, or of the possibility of this change at any point since I bought two of these things, again, partially because it offered that more customizable space (the actual Meta home is blah, dislike intensely - same for Steam's version of it - its just not up to par)  but I've got plenty of ads from Meta in my email. Nothing about any MASSIVE feature removal.

Ok ugh, just gonna wait for reply.... with fingers crossed.
