Why is it so impossibly hard to get recording I make on my quest off the quest onto my PC where I can actually do something with them? The help page I found told me to just plug the Quest into my PC with the Link cable. I tried this and it didn't work. No prompt came up anywhere to share files on my PC and the Quest never shows up in the 'This PC' folder. Another tedious and annoying way I found to do it was to plug my phone into my quest with a USB-C to USB-C cable, which allowed me to copy the files to my phone then unplug my phone form my Quest and plug it into my PC and copy the files from my phone to my PC, which is a pain but it worked for me once. Currently I am trying to do this again and now am unable to find my phone again in the quest even though I have allowed file hsaring on the phone after I connected it to the Quest. WHY ON EARTH IS THIS SO HARD TO DO? You'd think there would be an easier way to do this since the Quest has a record clip function and if I want to do pretty much ANYTHING with the videos apaart form post them directly unedited to Facebook or Instagram I need to get the things off of my Quest??? Sorry for the frustration but I've just wasted about 2 hours trying to do what I would have expected to be a simple common process.

Transfer pictures or videos from your Meta Quest headset to your computer | Quest help | Meta Store
This is the help page that I am referring to. This would be ideal if it actually worked, but when I plug my quest into my PC with the Official Quest Link cable I get no option to share files with the PC. The help page says 'On the headset when prompted, select Allow to allow your computer to access the photos and videos on your headset.' but I cannot find this prompt anywhere in my headset and the Quest does not show up in 'This PC'.

@raindoggles you need to create a developer account that allows you to use developer options to enable MTP and the headset will be seen by the PC.

This is what I do 90% of the time. Out of habit I guess.

Thanks, I actually already had this set up and I just checked and I have MTP notification enabled but I have the bug where I get no notification despite having it enabled. I've googled this and there are people with this problem from over a year ago and there still seems to be no fix for it so not holding out much hope that they're going to fix it. I guess I'll just have to use the other option that has been shared below with Google Drive. Would be great if this function actually worked cos it would be so much more convenient if I could just get the videos straight off the Quest by file transfer to edit on my PC.

Seems my Quest is bugged somehow and the direct file transfer option isn't available so will have to do this instead via Google Drive. Thanks for sharing.

@raindoggles I had to factory rest my headset to get MTP notifications to show up in my headset.

Factory reset did not solve this problem on my Quest 2.
Install ADB (SideQuest will install it).
Connect your device with Link Cable.
Run the following ADB command:
adb shell svc usb setFunctions mtp
