HI,
My idea is to connect my Quest 2 with a cable and quest link, use my desktop web browser to watch Youtube vr videos. No matter what format they are, I always get the flat video. No 3d immersion whatsoever.
What I need to do to watch those videos in full immersive vr (not a projection to a screen in front ?

Hey there, @snowcap! We definitely want for you to be able to use your headset in whatever way is most comfortable for you to watch content! That being said, it is most likely not possible to watch full 360 immersive Youtube videos through any PC web browser (at least not without a complicated workaround and extra software), as those are simply not designed to allow that sort of playback. You would need to use a VR-specific app to play these videos, like the Youtube VR app available within the headset store.
We hope this addresses the concerns you had today. Please let us know if there is anything else we can look into for you!

Hi @snowcap alternatively you can view youtube videos recorded in SBS (side-by-side) format on your headset using Bigscreen beta (free)

or Virtual Desktop ($15)

Both of these apps allow you to watch full stereoscopic 3D content on a large, movie theatre size screen.

Thanks for those suggestions, @oculusness! There are likely quite a few options for watching these videos, but most if not all of them will be headset-based rather than streamed from a computer using a PCVR link.

Yes, a quick google search reveals absolutely loads of 3D SBS content on youtube that can be viewed through the headset browser (not the youtube VR app), in full screen mode, with SBS selected in the viewing settings.

I think if you have a ps4 vr headset and console then you can watch 360 videos on youtube. It's too bad that Steam and Meta removed youtube vr from their stores for the pc. Now it's it only available for stand alone vr headsets.
