I want to watch videos outside of oculus (youtube, my own 360 vids etc.) when I try the best I can get is for the video to play on a PLAYER like VRPLAYER but nothing on my oculus headset. I'm a newb so any help would be appreciated.
Outside of Oculus? Like on your monitor? Or do you mean outside of what the Rift provides? Use Virtual Desktop (from Steam) and it shows what's on your monitor in the headset on a floating screen in front of you. You can zoom in or out to suit your tastes. So if you load a browser and play a HSBS 3D vid full screen, (half side by side) it can be toggled into 3D mode with F7. It's very good 3D stereo. So you just have to search for 3d vids that don't default to anaglyph mode. You can enter a redemption code for Virtual Desktop in Oculus Home and install the app in your Library so it's easier to load. You can also use your desktop in non 3D mode as always.
