How do you fix this? My monitor is always locked to 1080P. that is the only choice I have??

When the Oculus is plugged in, I can only get 1080 and no higher as an option in games whether oculus app is running or not.

What GPU do you have? What kind of cable are you using? In general, DisplayPort is the best option for high resolution monitors (HDMI or DVI may be limited to 1080p depending on the cable version or GPU).

Also, not all - but some do have a driver you need to download as well for the monitor that helps with problems like these.

When I plug my oculus in the main port I can only chose 1080P for games. If I take it out I will get 4K.

What ports are you using for Rift and your monitor? This is not normal, I've used Rift on two different machines with high resolution monitors and did not have this issue.
