How the hell do you use Air Link these days???

A year ago I was playing Half Life: Alyx and many other games just fine with Air Link when it was a beta.

Now iI cannot get it to work at all. My PC shows up, I press connect and it immediately says 'Connection Lost' and then it changes to 'Not Connected'.

I've restarted the PC and headset, I've re-installed the PC app - same thing every time. It either loses connection immediately or just says not connected.

What am I supposed to do?

Meanwhile Virtual Desktop is able to connect instantly every time (I was only trying Air Link because I noticed some games were not showing as played in Steam).

Hey there, @baker.3760! Oh no! We definitely don't like hearing that your Airlink connection has been acting wonky, but please don't fret. We will get you back to the VR world without delay. We are thrilled to see that you have taken a few troubleshooting steps already. Although we have a list of best practices for using the Air Link, there are a few steps that we would like you to try.

  • Have your PC connected to Router/Access Point via Ethernet cable.
  • Headsets should be connected to Wi-Fi via the 5 GHz band (AC or AX).
  • The router should be within line-of-sight of the headset and at least one meter above the ground.
  • Air Link works best with a non-mesh network configuration.
  • Are you able to try this on a different device?
