My son is 12 and I have parental controls enabled but he can not follow his friends nor can they follow him. I have searched for a solution and can't find a way to allow my son to have him and his friends to be followers with each other. Is it possible?

Currently child accounts (ages 10-12) are not allowed to follow others or have followers.

So they can’t play with their friends? Isn’t that the point of the games?

Seriously. You all need to let kids have followers and play with their friends. That's the whole reason we got this stupid thing, and now he's just using my adult profile, which means there are no filters or safeguards. Locking them out of the option completely defeats the whole point of most of the games.

This isn't a solution and in contradiction in what is says in the family center.
We also have noticed this, i think it's very worrying that this is the case. It seems like a bug because in family center at the privacy setting it says "your child will receive requests to approve followers, unless you choose to manage their follow requests for them."
But he doesn't receive follow requests and as a parent you can't choose to manage their follow request.
This way they make the online world more "dangerous" because the kids can only interact with strangers. It would be much safer if they also could interact with their friends.
I don't understand why it seems Meta thinks they are better in deciding what a child can and cannot do online. I am convinced that parents are the only one to decide which setting should or should not be available for their child. If meta is afraid that parents are going to keep them accountable for things that happens when the privacy control are being turned off by a parent just let them "sign" a release waiver.

That's something I've noticed. Why isn't it stated clearly on the box and in the online shop?
Now you discover it after buying it.
Why does meta call it parental supervision for 10 to 12 year olds and don't let parents decide if their kids are able to socialize?
In real live kids of that age aren't always in the same room or house. So the socialize in real live with friends, older kids and adults.
That's potentially more dangerous then it is in a online environment. They could even learn skills online that helps young teens in real live.
If kids would be brought up like big tech would want it they would have none social skills at the "safe" age of thirteen.
Let parents decide if their teens could handle socializing online.

This is not fair at all, No one wants to play by themselves all the time ,other game systems allow them to play with friends, why did I pay over 400 dollars for something he can't share with his friends

Things have changed in the year since I posted in this thread. 10-12 year olds can now follow people and have followers. You can choose to manage follow requests yourself, or leave it to them (and view them).

Did you ever figure out how to get your child to follow or be followed by approved people? The article indicates it should be allowed, but I still can't make it happen as of today. Thanks

Hey there, this feature is available for teen accounts. A youth account (12) cannot follow or be followed and does not have access to social features.
