How to manually change the IPD value

The little slider on my Rift doesn't report back the IPD value to the software so even though my lenses are properly distanced, my IPD value is stuck at 71mm. I know my IPD is 67mm so is there a way I can override the value somewhere?

I've tried the Oculus Debug Tool as well as the Oculus Tray Tool and didn't find anything.

Thanks.

I have the same problem, mine is stuck at 68 mm. I haven't found any software solutions but tomorrow I'll check out the insides of the Rift, it may be an easy fix according to an iFixit comment:

Its a small linear potentiometer. Left eye piece bracket moves the pot. possibly dropped out of the holder if it's been dropped. should be an easy fix

Hmmm if I open mine I'll probably make things worse!  😄

Please keep me informed though! 🙂

Edit: You might wanna put your smileys on a diet Oculus...  😛

I'm a KS backer so that eliminates that.

There has to be a value we can change in a file somewhere Cyber?

I'd really like to know about this too. A software override should be the ideal solution.
If there's no way at the moment Oculus really needs to add an option for doing this.

And as I wrote on reddit I recently found out where the potentiometer that reports this value is.
For future reference I'm posting this here too:

Removed the 6 little screws but I can't for the life of me unclip the "cloth mask" from the god damn lenses.

I gave up before breaking it.  :'(

It appears to be impossible at first, but it's actually very easy if you use the trick of sliding a flexible plastic card between the lens and the mask, then going around the lens until you manage to release the clip. There used to be a video too, but unfortunately it's no longer on YouTube.

That's right, it can be easier with a spudger, something like this:

If you manage to unclip the bottom clip, the other two come off immediately.
