Hey everyone,
I'm hoping there's someone that can help me.
I bought a meta quest 3 a couple of days ago and it's okay I guess but there's something that's really doing my head in EVERY single time I turn on my meta quest; the horizon feeds app and the connections app auto launches. Is there a way to disable this? I find both apps absolutely useless and all they are are just apps trying to persuade me to download games that I have NO interest in whatsoever or trying to persuade me to add friends or find contacts by adding my Instagram account. NO. I DON'T WANT TO. It's really annoying me now because I have to close both apps (THAT ARE ALSO PERMANENTLY STUCK ON THE UNIVERSAL MENU) before I start doing what I want to do.
If there's no solution to this I think I'm just going to return it because I don't want to spend nearly £500 on a device that's just basically a VR advertisement system. Might as well be an Amazon tablet with the bombardment of adverts

Meta make all-but no profit on the headset so they are desperate for you to buy things in the store and engage with their social functions.

So why don't they just let us buy what we know we want to buy instead of throwing games in my face that I have absolutely no interest in? I have no interest in downloading among us or mini golf but it's the first thing I see when I turn on my quest. They think it's going to persuade us to download them when in fact it's persuading me that I made a huge mistake and that I need to return the thing 😒

That's how advertising works. Show the people something they don't know they want, and some will find out they want it.

I found out I didn't. 👍

I think there's no way to stop auto launch for now, but for now, you will just have to close them manually. And if you got a new littleone lately, pick a K name from Japanese names list.

I get that but don't show me the same 3 apps or the ones that came for free with the device. Switch it up a bit, show me things suited to me

I don't actually. I returned it. Really not happy with the lack of customisation overall and often buggy software

An “Expert consultant” says “that’s how advertisement works” wow
If You’re an employee then congrats on the most tone-deaf response, if not then get a life. What exactly are you trying to defend here? The fact that it’s impossible to remove pointless bloat like “discover people”?
I don’t see steam shoving random profiles in my face, 5 minutes after opening the product and signing up, just ludicrous.
i too might play around for a week or so and return it.

Yeah I've already returned it. Really don't appreciate companies that shove things in your face to try to force you to install absolute trash. Not all of us bought the device to play games designed for 5 hear olds. If they had the decency to show me apps tailored to me then maybe I could let it go - god knows they have enough data about me anyway considering you know, it's Facebook 🙄. But the overall lack of customisation in general was the tipping point for me. It's not hard to just let us customise our own home screen layout
