How to switch to right controller as dominant hand

choopk
Honored Guest

My left controller had an issue where it has drifting and also the index trigger keep triggering which made it the dominant hand. I have sent it for repairs which is covered under my warranty.  While waiting for the fix is there anyway to set the right controller back as the dominant hand, right now it can't select anything , the only thing it can do is trigger the meta quest logo and click to shutdown or restart when the shutdown menu shows

This morning there was firmware update and my right controller got switch back to the dominant hand. But after I turn off the device and on again, it lost dominance. its frustrating that I cant use my quest while waiting for the left controller to be fixed.

I have also tried factoring resetting my quest device, and the right controller still isnt the dominant one, the blue light doesnt show when i trigger the index  finger button

Also i couldnt event factory reset my right controller by holding down the a button and clicking the occulus icon 5 times. Ive read in many threads that the factory reset for controllers do not work at all

Hi @choopk! We appreciate you sharing your experience with the community! We certainly understand how vital controllers are to navigating VR, and we're ready to lend a hand! To give us a better idea of where you're at, we have a few questions listed below:

  • Have you recently cleaned your controller?
    • Compressed air can be used to remove any debris inside the controller.
  • Have there been any changes to your network, or have you restarted it recently?
  • Have you removed the batteries for 30 minutes, or tried new batteries?
  • Are you using any third-party accessories that may affect button movement or controller detection?
    • For example, controller covers, controller attachments, etc.
  • Is the headset fully charged? (2+ hours via a wall charger)

Yep done all of those stuff, a firmware update yesterday made it usable for a while after I switch it off and on, I couldnt select menus again.

No third party accessories used and no changes to network
