How to transfer files from Oculus Meta Quest 3 to Mac

I've been experimenting with 360-degree photos and videos using my Oculus VR headset. However, I hit a snag when trying to transfer my files from the Oculus to my Mac.

Every time I connect the devices via USB, my Mac doesn't recognize the files on the Oculus. I've tried different cables and ports, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else faced this issue? Can you hep me please?

Check the guide from Meta here: Meta Help: Transfer Files from Computer to Headset. Although it's for the Meta Quest model, the process should apply to all generations of the device.

However, be aware of one important point. The guide mentions using Android File Transfer (AFT) to move files from Android to Mac. Unfortunately, AFT support has been discontinued, and it's no longer available for download. It's puzzling why they haven't updated their guide to suggest an alternative like MacDroid, which is not only easier but also offers file transfer via both USB and Wi-Fi.

For an alternative solution, check out this guide on transfer files from oculus (Meta Quest) using MacDroid.

I hope this helps clarify things for you.

It's strange how I didn't find it myself. Thanks a lot, I'll take a look at it.

Yeah, this is a pretty common problem. macOS doesn’t play nice with MTP, which is what the Oculus uses for file transfers. I had the same issue and fixed it by using MacDroid. It’s a simple app that lets your Mac talk to Android devices. If you’d rather skip the cable, AirDroid or uploading stuff to Google Drive from the headset also works.
