On the 17th December I discovered that I am no longer able to purchase apps or games from the Meta store. I tried the app, the headset, the website, I tried different cards and paypal accounts, including the business card that is routinely used to pay for ads on Facebook. Needless to say all these payment methods work everywhere else on the internet. After the introduction of Quest Cash I can't use even that to make purchases. I have around 25 EUR worth of Quest Cash accumulated through referral codes and I can't use them to purchase games or apps.
When I try to purchase an app, I am told that there is something wrong and that for 'my security' the order is blocked.
From the 17th December the Meta support has been absolutely useless. 90% of the time I get someone who doesn't bother to read the previous correspondence and asks me the same questions over and over again. And then after I reply to them another person replies. Sometimes I get a person who seems to actually interested in the problem, but it usually ends up with them 'escalating to a special team' or 'contacting higher ups' and I never hear from them again only to get another rando when I ask for a follow-up.
I am going to bump this thread every day. I am going to contact support every day. I lost all sympathy to the support workers. Call me a Karen, but four months with ZERO progress is retardation beyond belief.
If anyone else has any experience on how to solve this, please share it with me and others.

Randomly tried to purchase an app today and it worked! Hopefully it will stay that way 😄

I have messaged you 5 or 6 times already. You ask for a case number and then tell me that my case is being investigated (for four months already) and then nothing happens.
Why don't you open your inbox and just search for these messages using my account name here instead of making me waste my time over and over again.

I've looked at the email history and I actually contacted support about this for the first time on 3rd January. So today is the 111th day of waiting for the problem to be solved.
During that time I have been thanked for my patience by @MetaQuestSupport in PM's exactly three times.
I am sure there is more to come!

Day 115 and it is solved! Didn't get any notification, just tried it randomly every couple of days and today it worked.
I didn't know if it was me going full Karen mode or maybe Mark saw this thread, but it is solved now.

The error message is back again and I can't buy anything in the store. Again. So I message support. Again.
Day 1!
