I keep getting a "Not everyone can message this account" message when trying to message some friends

I am having problems with being able to text my friend when use the vr i can call them but i can't message them and its only them that i have this problem with no one else i was able to text them before but recently i can't and it says something like "Not everyone can message this account" and when i look it up no one has an answer can you please help me.

Hello there! We understand how important it is for you to be able to get in contact with your friends. Therefore, we would love to look into this for you. Can you please confirm with us if both you and your friend are following each other? Sometimes this could be the reason why you are unable to send messages to friends. Please let us know. Otherwise, we will continue to look into other options we have available for you!

I don't know about the initial person on this thread but I can't message my friends today when I have been doing it for awhile now. I didn't change a thing and yes my friends follow me as well. This should not be happening. My messages to them get a red exclamation point next to the message. This happens on the Quest 3 and my phone.

  • Checked for any available updates on the headset and the Meta Quest mobile app.
  • Restarted the headset and the Meta Quest mobile app.
  • Logged out and back into your headset and the Meta Quest mobile app.
  • Checked and restarted your Wi-Fi network. Be sure to ensure your headset and the device with your Meta Quest mobile app are on the same network and the same frequency.
