I purchased my Meta Quest 2 brand new two years ago, but my friend accidentally threw away the controllers. I still want to use it for watching movies and would like to enable hand tracking, but after a factory reset, it's stuck on the pairing screen.
I tried enabling hand tracking through the iPhone app's browser, but the installation fails with the error message "Headset Updating. This application is ready to install, but your headset is still updating. Please wait a few minutes and check back here to resume installation." No matter how long I wait, the update doesn't complete and I can't install the app. I also tried sideloading with ADB, but it didn't solve the issue.
Dear developers, could you please remove the pairing screen and enable hand tracking, or provide me with a method to do so?

As you mentioned above, the controllers are needed for the initial set up and pairing of the headset in the Meta Horizon mobile app. With that being said, we can definitely see the benefit of being able to enable hand tracking for the pairing process, so we ask that you please share your detailed feedback on this at our Ideas Page. This is a lost cause, the headset is a paperweight as you have it.
Either buy controllers (~$150 and you MUST have BOTH to setup). Borrow controllers just to get past setup. Sell the quest (no resell value...only worth ~$50 on the high range).
Meta will never enable hand tracking by default. They have already seen hundreds of these posts.
