I've only seen this is the past when the external battery actually fully charges your already fully charged headset battery. The fix I found was to avoid connecting the external battery until you run down your headset battery to ~80-90%. This never happened with my official Q2 Elite battery strap, only if I used an external battery. Sorry mate, all I can think of right now.
