Increasing resolution above 1.0x in Meta Quest Link app results in awful performance

Ive been experimenting with the resolution in the Meta Quest Link app and anything above 1.0x resolution just results in a very laggy unplayable experience, we're talking 10 FPS. I have a 4070 Super and i5 14600k, so I'm surprised that I struggle to run any games above 1.0x resolution, while other people with much older PC's don't seem to have a problem. The link cable is a 2.6gbps plugged into a USB 3.0 port, so I can't imagine its the problem either. I've tried increasing the priority of the OVRserver.exe process in task manager to high, which increases performance by the absolute smallest amount. I've also tried dropping down to 90hz instead of 120hz, but that doesn't make enough of a difference for me to justify staying at 90hz. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hey there @SeeDeez101, we're happy to hear that you're having a good time with some Quest experimentation! Bear in mind that while increasing your refresh rate and render resolution will result in improved visuals, these adjustments could have a negative impact on overall performance. Even with some of the newest and most powerful GPUs, maxing out values for the render resolution slider with a 120 Hz refresh rate may result in dropped or missing frames, which creates a less smooth in-VR experience.

That said, we hope you find a setup that works to enhance your gameplay!

How much above 1.0 are you trying?

One thing to be careful of is the value is per axis, so the total workload is squared. If you set it to 2.0, that's actually 4 times the rendering workload.

Plus are you running pure Oculus SDK based games (such as from the Meta store) or SteamVR games? SteamVR has it's own multiplier on top, which could be scaling things up even higher res.
