Hello community!
I have recently run into a problem where my Oculus Quest headset refuses to enter into VR due to "Your System's graphics card is incompatible with the Rift system software." Is there any way to bypass the GPU requirement, because it would in theory have the power to run any VR game I ran on my old GPU (RTX 2060).
Thanks for your help in advance,
IJ

Intel arcs are not supported by oculus. They have not developed a driver for them yet. Also while they might be capable, they might lack certain features which may prevent oculus from even determining whether or not to support.

Speaking anecdotally, people have gotten other VR systems such as the HTC Vive or Valve's Index to work flawlessly with the Arc line of cards. This is solely a matter of getting Oculus to greenlight the GPUs at the very least and work on support from there. That is the bare minimum that they can do. And the arc has H264 as well as H265 and AV1. All of these encoders are perfectly fine for VR video encoding. I imagine AV1 may even boost performance. Just greenlight the dang thing and work on support features down the line.

It's been almost a year and Meta still can't decide to put a statement about Intel Arc cards? **bleep** Meta

Can't make any promises, but I recommend posting to Ideas if you have suggestions that would make your experience better (such as a wider selection of compatible GPUs). Our team regularly looks into the Ideas page to see what improvements can be made, and plenty of them do get implemented. These things take time, but bringing visibility to the changes you want to see is always appreciated 😁!

It's not a matter of oculus, but more of an Intel issue. Intel really needs to partner with oculus to develop drivers and firmware for the oculus headset. Oculus has a long standing relationship with Nvidia and Nvidia has features that make support easy. Intel cards are really unusual bunch as it's architecture is not friendly for 3rd party development.

People have asked 9 months ago and there has been no response about it

Just because people ask or request doesn't mean it will happen. You really should be talking to Intel about it. Here's the truth Intel cards are problematic, the architecture relies on a specific pcie configuration and cpu chipset to get all the features of a Nvidia card. Nvidia cards have more advanced features that help the quest 2 with link. Such as a dedicated h2.64 encoder and other features.

I consider my Intel Arc a770 an UPGRADE to any video card from Nvidia I've owned. This is just Oculus being lazy. If my choice is to return my Intel Arc video card or return my Quest, I'll return the Quest.

And?! Only wi-fi collaboration?! ))) Really stupid...
