Is any Quest 3 user suffering from controller drift defect?

I got my new Quest.3 from a retailer in Korea with full of enthusiasm. After few hours of try, the right analog stick suddenly sensed towards the right side although I did not physically push it.

I found out that this is well known issue for Quest.2 and Quest Pro. Yet, I haven't heard from anyone experiencing the same issue with Quest.3. I am pretty much disappointed to have this issue as an early buyer...... Please let me know if anyone can give me tip for hotfix

Yup. I’ve had the Quest 3 for a few months and my left “thumbstick” is flickering all over the place, especially when I try to go forward. The instructions Meta replied with didn’t help. The “dead zone” mapping isn’t applicable when the drift happens at different outer points (like only when going forward and to the right, or back and left), as it only allows you to choose a uniform elliptical area starting starting at the center of the zone and going out.

This is happening to SO many people and the Quest 3 only came out in October. It’s crazy. I’m leery of reaching out to them because others have been told to send their entire headset back, even though it’s only one controller that’s defective, and I doubt that’s a very speedy process.

Hi there, @SuburbanSquid! Drifting during VR gaming is only fun when playing a racing game, so hearing you are having this issue affect your VR experience is disheartening. We want to help you get back to a smooth gaming experience as soon as possible. Thank you for already attempting the provided troubleshooting in our previous reply. We would like to suggest a few other steps for you to try, but before you do, please confirm that your area you are using the headset is well lit, free of small lights, reflective surfaces, tracking cameras are clean and your

  • Your area is well lit, with enough light to clearly see but not direct sunlight.
  • Your area is free of small lights, such as Christmas lights or LED strips.
  • Ensure your area is free of any reflective surfaces, such as mirrors, glass, or polished marble.
  • Ensure the tracking cameras are clean.
    • You can read how to clean your device and controllers by clicking here.
  • Ensure your environment is free of any obstructions between the tracking cameras and the controllers.

Once you have confirmed the above information, then please try the following:

  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection.
    • Items like controller and headset covers or controller attachments
  • Remove the battery from the controller for at least 30 seconds.
    • Try replacing the battery with a new one.
  • Unpair and pair controllers
  • Factory Reset

Let us know if these help. If not, then please send us a PM so that we can collect some additional sensitive information so we can create a support ticket for you to have our specialist team continue providing you with assistance.

Same Problem here.....

We are sad that you are experiencing this issue. We would be more than happy to assist you with this. We have noticed that normally, when you experience this issue, it could be caused by debris inside the controller, dust, or maybe even crumbs. We will be listing some troubleshooting steps we would like for you to try.

  1. Use compressed air to remove any debris from inside the controller.
  2. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect thumbstick motion or controller detection, for example, controller covers or any controller attachments.
  3. Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds, and also try new batteries.
  4. Unpair and pair the controllers with the headset.
  5. Recalibrate the controller's joystick range and dead zone.

Please try those troubleshooting steps; if the issue has not been resolved, do not hesitate to reach back out to support for further assistance.
