Is it normal to have my quest 3 passthrough going like this?

It is so blurry that I can barely see nothing not to mention reading the text.

Some people love it, some people hate it. Personally mine is very grainy. I keep hearing it is a lighting issue but I think it goes beyond that and actually is that the hardware isn't as good in some of them. I am considering bringing mine back and exchanging it for another.

I find it to be pretty sharp as far as viewing like video playing or reading text in the middle area. Outer areas not so sharp. So far I like it ok however I only had original Quest previously , never had Quest 2 so ya pretty big leap for me.

This! It's not an light issue. I have tried in good light and it still very grainy. It's an hardware problem and Meta should adress this! I hate that every Meta-fan or youtuber that has a good headset claims that it's just the light. No it's not. It's an hardware problem.

Same here, no way I can read text in a book or screen through the headset, no difference if the room is lit by 1 or 5 strong room lights or if the room also gets extra light from a window (not direct sunlight).

Is anyone else experiening jittery image or screen tearing when moving in passthrough mode? I'm not sure but I think it might have started after the last update or I didn't see it because I'm still fascinated (lol)

Anyone else having this "issue"?

No suggestions?

The picture on the Right is like mine. So much noise and everything blurry and washed out. Unusable for anything other than bumping it to stuff. Can just about type a message on phone if it bring the phone really close to the headset but then warp city.

I have heard that when the quest 3 first came out there was a clear picture but after a new update came out causing the camera quality to be grainy my guess is the update has accidentally change the cameras frequency so it made the quality worse or broke something else for lack of compatibility with the os hopefully there is a update to fix this

guys I've made many tests and the conclusion is : in recording camera mode through the quest 3 cam menu, the video looks pretty decent, in fact as good as seen from the reviewers and influencers. And, surprisely, the quality is also good enough when I record with my cell through one of the quest 3 lens!!!

Now the verdict : the grainy and bad quality picture seen in passthrough mode only occurs with our eyes in direct real vision, headset on the head. That should explains why so many users think their unit is defect. The rest (video showing nice passthrough) is not a true experience or the reality....

A few tips : as it already said, you need strong light environnement to have the best picture in passthrough.  It does improve only 10-15% ; so it's not the saint-graal but it can make things better. Also I see when you decrease a little bit the light parameter via the menu, the grainy effect is attenuated.

In a nutshell, the main issuue regarding the poor rendering of the passthrough is only what we only see with our eyes and not the picture/signal through the lens. (I know, hard to explain but it's a matter of fact). I'm sure the Meta techs will work hard to fix than with an update 😉 Quest 3 is a nice device but it's a new born. Give it some time.

I may have found a fix if you reboot your headset the passthrough might automatically fix itself btw when I mean reboot I mean go to the android boot menu from selecting the power and volume button at the same time and select reboot from there
