Is there a way to pair without the app?

So, I was playing gorilla tag, and I threw my controller across the room, and the ring of the left controller broke off, which I later found out that the tracking sensors were inside of, I bought a new controller and couldn’t pair it, then, my dad died, and he was the one who set up my oculus and he was the one with the app on his phone, which after he died, my mom factory reset his phone, now, I don’t know the login info to my account. So I bought a new headset, and I wanna fix this one so it can be my secondary headset, but can’t pair my left controller.

Hello @DemonPlayer15! We see your having a few issues with your account and your controller as this is not the experience we want you to have with our VR devices we want to guide you to the right place. When it comes to getting your authentication for your account we do have specialist that can help as we can only help to a certain extend. In addition, we see your having issues pairing your controllers? We do have a few steps you can try for that however, we will need to make sure your headset has no information yet but if it does please check your Cloud Backup.

You can check Cloud Backup by doing the following steps:

  1. Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select System, then select Backup.
  4. Select the toggle next to Cloud Backup to turn Cloud Backup on or off.

Once this is done please try the following steps to pair your controllers:

  1. Factory reset the headset
  2. Open the Meta Quest app on your iOS or Android device. Wait about a minute while a background update is automatically applied.
  3. Close the Meta Quest app.
  4. Factory reset your headset.
  5. Try to pair your controllers and headset as new.

You can also click here to see the steps for the Cloud Backup and the here for the Factory reset steps. We advise you getting connected with one of our awesome agents through a live chat or even scheduling a call by clicking here to get your information from your account. We hope to see you back in the VR world soon as we have many new games!

But I don’t know the login to my account, will the headset have all my apps after I factory reset

Hi @DemonPlayer15, the apps and games that were on the headset are actually saved onto the account that you bought games with. So a factory reset will not permanently erase any games. If you have the cloud enabled, you can even save your app data and progresses as well.

As far as the login information goes, it will be difficult to locate and log-in to an account you have no information on. If you would like to still try regardless, please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.
