Issue Casting Quest 3 to TV and Meta Horizon App After v68 Update

Since updating my Quest 3 to version 68, I've been experiencing issues when trying to cast my device. Whenever I attempt to cast to a TV or the Meta Horizon Android app, I receive a message on my Quest 3 stating that the image is being duplicated, but all I see on both my phone and TV is a grey screen.

Interestingly, the only casting method that seems to work is by using Chrome and navigating to "https://www.oculus.com/casting/". I haven't had this issue before the update, and I'm wondering if others are experiencing the same problem.

Could you please provide any insights or a solution to this issue?

Hi there, @Sr.V! Thanks so much for sharing your experience casting since the update with the community! We understand how important it is to be able to share what we see in VR with others, and we're eager to lend a hand! 

We must first mention that casting directly to a Chromecast device or TV is not fully supported by Meta, and may not work with some Chromecast devices or TVs. With that said, we have a few questions listed below to get a better idea of what could be going on: 

 

  • What casting device are you attempting to cast to?
  • Are your phone, headset, and receiving device all connected to the same Local Area Network?
    • If using a dual-band router, it's best practice to have all devices on the same 5GHz band.
  • Are your headset and the device displaying the cast logged into the same account?
  • Are you able to cast to a different phone and from a different app?

Hello, we are a company that is working on a virtual reality Padel Sport simulator. We sell headsets with the game preinstalled to sponsors and have them cast the game to chromecasts. The latest 68 update broke the casting on all headsets. It runs worse, and it disconnects randomly after a few minutes to an hour. It happens even just being on the oculus menu.
