Issue: The meta quest link app is stuck on graphics check for Rift Software but I am using a quest 3

Explanation of the issue: In the past the meta app had a forced update that led the system to ask for reconfiguration of the headset after it was connected to the PC then the link app launched automatically and showed on screen the following message "Graphics card not compatible" checking the requirements of the app and the PC specs the graphics card that I own it´s not listed as non-compatible (NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada )

The problem is that this screen looks and no interaction can be had with it other than closing the app but every time it opens the same screen will show up so I am unable to use the app at all or paint my Quest 3 headset.

Hey, @pikpokmedellindos! Welcome to the community!

To keep things short, the RTX 2000 Ada is not officially supported by Air Link or Quest Link. As with all Nvidia workstation cards, they're not built for gaming, and the 2000 Ada's gaming cousin, the 4060, isn't the greatest card for VR either.

Meta do regularly roll out updates to the system requirements for Link and if your card worked previously, it may have fallen behind those now.

The list of non-compatible graphics cards isn't exhaustive, so if it isn't on this list, it's not officially supported. A few specific cards are mentioned as not supported for clarity reasons (e.g. the Titan Z because the Titan X is supported).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

If I don't take my foot off the gas, I might miss it all.

Before we begin, let's understand what "spoofing" a GPU means in this context. It's essentially tricking your system into thinking you have a specific GPU, often a higher-end one, to enable features or bypass limitations.

Here's a detailed guide to spoofing your GPU for Quest Link:

Step 1: Uninstall Quest Link App
Open Settings: Go to the Windows Start menu and search for "Settings."
Apps & Features: Click on "Apps & Features."
Uninstall Quest Link: Find the Quest Link app in the list and click "Uninstall."
Step 2: Remove Leftover Files
Open File Explorer: Press the Windows key + E.
Navigate to Program Files: Go to C:\Program Files and search for any remaining Quest Link files or folders. Delete them if found.
Navigate to AppData/Local: Go to C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local and search for Quest Link files or folders. Delete them if found.
Step 3: Identify Your GPU's Hardware ID
Open Device Manager: Search for "Device Manager" in the Windows Start menu and open it.
Expand Display Adapters: Click on the arrow to expand the list of display adapters.
Right-click on Your GPU: Right-click on your GPU and select "Properties."
Hardware ID: In the "General" tab, look for the "Device ID" or "Hardware IDs." Copy these values.
Step 4: Modify the Windows Registry (Proceed with Caution)
Warning: Editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can lead to system instability. Proceed with caution and back up your registry before making any changes.

Open Registry Editor: Search for "regedit" in the Windows Start menu and run it.
Navigate to the Key: Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\PCI
Find Your GPU: Look for the folder that corresponds to your GPU's Hardware ID.
Edit HardwareID and CompatibleIDs:
Right-click on the HardwareID key and select "Modify."
Add PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2520&REV_A1 to the beginning of the value data, separated by a semicolon.
Repeat the process for the CompatibleIDs key.
Step 5: Reboot Your System
Reboot your system for the changes to take effect.

Note: The specific Hardware ID for the GPU you want to spoof (in this case, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2520&REV_A1) will vary depending on the GPU model you're targeting. Ensure you're using the correct ID for your desired GPU.

Remember to proceed with caution when editing the Windows Registry. If you're unsure about any step, it's recommended to seek assistance from a knowledgeable individual or consult online resources.
