Issue when starting a game on steam

I have Elite Dangerous on Steam, not on the Oculus home, but I noticed it creates a start button in the O home as well.

So far so good, but I noticed 2 issues when I start the game from the O home, through that button.

First, it will fail to transfer the audio from my default sound setup to the rift earphones; only if I start through the steam client the audio gets transfered asa it is supposed to. My O home native games transfer the audio as they are supposed to, so this is an anomaly.

Have anyone mentioned this before? I couldn't find any solution, and this makes me hesitant to get other Steam games...

Another thing is that my xbox controller won't work untill I remove my headset and click on the screen window with the mouse on my PC, at least when starting the Elite Dangerous, what is also very weird. As it is my only steam game I don't know if this is an Elite bug or if it would affect any game from valve's client, but I assume it would because it seens to be an issue of the game window being the selected application.

So again, any tips to get the start setup to promptly recognize my controller when I start the game, without extra steps, will be very appreciated.

Not sure about the controller bit, but for the audio when this happens i had to manually set my default output to the rift headset, not sure any other work around that does it like steamvr, since it has this option to auto change the output whenever any steamvr game is launched, oculus home sorta have it too but it seemed to be very selective

Hi there Frontier Support team. Thanks for the offer, but looks like my issues are a matter of configuration.

I changed an option on steam VR, and now the sound is being transfered ok to the headphones when I start the game through steam VR.

As for the controller, well, I have changed my Oculus Home starting file so it wont open when I use only the steam client. Doing this avoids the overlay between the two cliets and solves the controller issue.

I also have have redeemed Elite on my Oculus Home now.

However, with these solutions, I also came across a new set of problems you might help me with.

1 - Now that I have redeemed Elite on OH, it asks me to "install" it. Meaning that it is loading the steam version. Now, I know I wont be able to start the VR version natively without a fresh install, as Oculus has a set direcory for the games, but: can I uninstall the VR components from steam and install it on OH without redundancy? It's probably not ideal even if possible as this would mean different saves, but I just want to know if the option is the table.

2 - When I run the Steam version of elite, it opens a prompt in my PC to select the VR version, the 32 bits bersion or the 64 version. This does not happens when I first run the game, but if I exit the game and try to get back in (I did this while I was struggling with question number 3), the game wont start waiting for an imput in my desktop. Is there a way to bypass this news and prompt screen and go straight to the game so I can avoid this issue while on the VR environment?

3 - Finally, I have set my height as 177 cm. So when I try to play the game sitting, I get a wrong position, very low and behoind the pilot's bench. In the Oculus Home, I could easily reset the "in app" position, but using the steam VR, the button that resets my position does not seen to have an effect on the position inside Elite. Even when my sitting position is set on the Steam VR home, I still spawn below and looking to the back of the sit when I start missions. Is there any way I can reset my position in game?

Apologies for the delayed response!

1 - Your save is stored on our servers and not bound to the client locally. This means that you can uninstall the game in Steam if you wish and have it installed in Oculus Home, or you can even leave both versions on your computer, this will not affect your save in any way. As long as you log in with the same Frontier account, you'll find your save in the exact state you left it in.

2 - We strongly recommend running the game in Oculus Home if you use a Rift as it will take care of setting the correct launch arguments for VR to work. Oculus Home will always launch Horizons (64-bit) and will automatically log you in so there is no hassle at the start. In the same way, we recommend using Steam for Vive users.

3 - There is an option in Options > Controls > Headlook Mode > Reset Headlook which is bound to F12 by default. However, F12 may be bound to taking screenshots in Steam, and in this case Steam would not pass the key press on to the game. You should be able to resolve this by adjusting the bindings in the game or Steam (though we recommend using Oculus Home for the Rift as mentioned before, which would also resolve this).
