Issue where Oculus 1 keeps asking for 8 digit code to connect account.

Can someone assist me with understanding why my headset asks for an 8 digit code when it is already set up and paired with the Oculus app? It seems to be a constant issue. Am I being logged out for not using the device in a while or something?

Hi there, @qfesvr. Thanks for reaching out and bringing your pairing troubles to our attention. We know how hiccups such as this can be a bit frustrating, and we would like to help you with your question. Kindly note that the 8-digit code is going to be a mix of numbers and letters that will direct you to meta.com/device to re-associate the headset with your account. This is independent of the headset being paired to the phone.

 

Has anything changed recently?

Is this after any sort of device update?

Can you send us a copy of the error message?

It is asking for the 8 digit code as well on mine but my account never prompts me for a code. I don’t have a code anywhere. My account says my device is already linked. 

Hey there @MISTERSITUPS, We see you are having issues with your device and an 8 digit code? These kinds of issues blocking you from VR are something we would love to assist with.  the 8 code would likely be within the headset where it would prompt you to visit a website. Try logging out of the mobile app, and turning it back on to prompt a reconnect to the headset. If all else fails, you can always go with a Factory Reset which commonly resolves these issues. Or reach out to us over PMs from our profile page. just send us a message and we would love to look into this!

Same with mine. Except it keeps saying that my email “doesn’t match an account”. I checked a hundred times, and it’s the right email. So I don’t really know what to do, cause I really can’t do anything with my oculus as of right now.

when i put the 8 digit code in i get to a screen that askes for my work email adress but when i put in my email it doesnt work and i didnt set up a work email adress for my meta account so im stuck with a 8 digit code on my Vr unable to do anything

So that we can provide you with the best assistance, we do have a few questions for you for clarification:

 

  • When was the last time you were able to successfully log in to your account?
  • Which generation of headset are you using (i.e. Quest, Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3)?
  • Is your headset updated to the latest software version?
  • What troubleshooting steps, if any, have you already attempted?
