There has been a long-standing issue with Cloud Backups. When I do a Cloud Backup, uninstall an app, and reinstall it — all in the same day — I get my save data back just fine, even when I did a factory reset in-between. But when I reinstall an app that has been uninstalled for months, all my progress is gone.
Now, before anyone asks, I definitely have Cloud Backup turned on (how else could I do regular Cloud Backups?), and the apps I’m talking about didn’t have Cloud Backup turned off by the developers. Indeed, if I run another Cloud Backup, it overwrites the existing cloud data with an empty save from the freshly installed app.
And lest you believe I’m the only one experiencing this issue, others have complained about losing progress of backed-up apps on Reddit, and it was indeed Reddit user Cynical-_-Void who noticed that the time between uninstalling and reinstalling is the deciding factor.
I really hope that a programmer can look into this, because I’m pretty sure this is a bug in the firmware.
