I've bought not only an Oculus Rift but also a brand new notebook just to use Oculus Rift. I've followed the Minimum Spects suggested in Oculus' website and I've bought an Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567-A20P with an Intel Core I7, an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050Ti (4Gb dedicated), 8Gb de MRAM and Windows 10.
I've bought this notebook just to run Oculus Rift, I've installed it and it's not working. I'm receiving a message saying that the graphics card it's not the recommended.
It should be working, right ? What do you guys suggest I should do to make it work ?
Be sure you have the GTX 1050 TI enabled. By default, Windows will disable it and use the far less capable (but less power hungry) Intel HD graphics instead, which is not anywhere close to being able to run VR.
To switch to the dedicated graphics, right click a blank area of the screen, click nvidia control panel, go to manage 3d settings and at the top, you'll see "preferred graphics processor." Select "High-performance NVIDIA processor." Further down the list, be sure to set the power management mode to prefer maximum performance and set texture filtering quality to high performance as well.
Laptops, in general, seem to be a bit shaky when it comes to VR. Oculus highly recommends only using Oculus Ready branded laptops. Yes, this laptop does meet minimum specs, but those specs are for desktop PCs. VR isn't neccesarily built for laptops, it's meant for beefy desktop PCs. Constricting all those PC components into something so small like a laptop, they have to somehow downgrade it. If they didn't need to downgrade it, there would be no reason why anybody would want a desktop rather than a laptop. I recommend, if you still can't get it to work, reselling it for a good desktop or an Oculus-ready laptop, which will be quite expensive.
I also raised a query with both Oculus and even Dell as well as running their compatibility checker so I can make an informed decision before purchasing. Dell says yes it will work on my Inspiron 7577 with Nvidia 1050Ti. They referred me to a link on the Oculus site which shows that 1050Ti on notebooks is supported. However Oculus support will not give a definite Yes/No answer.Furthermore their compatibility checker test raised an issue with this graphics card. This contradicts their specification. If anyone else has had success please post a comment so this thread can be finalised.
On desktop, the GTX 1050 Ti is the minimum requirement. However, on laptops this is not always valid, and our Compatibility Tool does mention the results are not applicable to laptops. Partially this is due to laptop GPUs having less power and potentially less performance (even if it's technically the same model number). More importantly, though, many laptops are built in proprietary ways, such has having the HDMI output tied to the Intel integrated graphics, which doesn't work with Rift. But it's hard to know how a laptop is created without testing it. That is why we have the Oculus Ready program, to confirm which machines are compatible, and why it's difficult to give a solid answer whether one particular laptop will work.
I have an Oculus Quest, and I bought Oculus Link to play Steam VR games; but these doesn't let me to play some VR games via link, and I had to play some of them via Virtual Desktop, any solutions to this? I am on a Laptop MSI NVIDIA Geforce 1050 TI and I bought link cause I saw the minimun requirements and I have it. But it seems it does not work.
If you refer to the Oculus Quest Link requirements you will see that even the mobile gtx1060m is not supported. So I don’t see how you think your mobile gtx1050ti meets spec?
At least Quest wireless with Virtual Desktop seems to work with lower spec pc’s. As long as you can connect your pc directly to your router and have good 5Ghz WiFi very close to your router, preferably in the same room it should work pretty well. Good luck.

I don’t what minimum requirements you were looking at, but 1050ti is not on the link compatibility list
Those would be the ones that fooled me too. Quest+Link is tooted as being rift compatible. Full stop. The error link in the occulus software takes you to a different page than that which you posted. (cant post the link to the rift specs page cos im new to forum) While it works fine on my desktop i bought a laptop specifically for the purpose of using VR with my quest. It had USB-C at 3 grade I7 GTX 1050ti graphics card and more than enough ram and works fine with my old (rift) headset. For occulus to say this is not enough for a USB link when i can connect WIRELESSLY via Riftcat to play on steam is quite frankly bad show full stop 😕 I dont understand how occulus is having so much trouble with a USB link?!? I mean on wifi via 3rd party kit, ok the visual quality is poorer but at least it works! When i pay 600 euros for something i want it to work as advertised, not have to go trawling the internet for hacks.
