Just bought a used Oculus Rift and I'm unable to create an Oculus account, which stops installation

As the title says, I recently bought an original, used Oculus Rift and I'm having trouble setting it up. I followed the instructions to go to oculus.com/setup (it redirects now to https://www.meta.com/quest/setup/) and chose "Oculus Rift" and downloaded the installer. Everything goes well until I get to the "Log into a Meta account" screen. If I click it, it says "Continue in your browser" but nothing opens in the browser. If I instead choose "Already have an Oculus account? Log In" it gives me a login screen but my Meta username and password don't work. If I click "forgot password," nothing happens. Same with "help center."

 

Any advice? I bought this older model to test if I enjoy VR before investing significant money in it, but it looks like I won't even be able to use it.

Also, this is tagged "Oculus Rift S" because there was no option for the original Oculus Rift. That's the installer that I downloaded, though.

Hey @DathanieI! We love you you have joined the amazing Meta community and hope you have an enjoyable experience. We understand that you have bought a Oculus Rift and have been trying to complete the setup. When you get to the screen that says "Log into a Meta Account" it doesn't allow you to open in a browser, log into your current Meta account, or select forgot password. We do have a few questions to get a better understanding of what may be going on so that we know how to proceed. 

 

  • Try using a different web browser
  • Try clearing your cookies and caches
  • If you are on your home network you can try your mobile network
  • Also if you have a Antivirus, firewall/proxy network, or a VPN on your PC it may be blocking the websites and access

 

If you need to create a new Meta account and see if a new account works follow the steps here or the steps listed below:

 

  • Open the Meta Quest mobile app on your phone or put on your headset and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • You can also visit auth.meta.com to get started.

 

Is this an oculus account that was created before we migrated to Meta accounts? if so, please send us a PM
