Known Issue - Black bar when accessing store (Link/Air Link)

When I’m using the AirLink and I’m on my VR desktop, I will click on the store and the store doesn't appear.  Instead a black bar pops up in my view about the same shape and size as the Oculus frame and wherever I look, it moves with me.  When I want it go to away, I have to unlink and relink my connection.  But, it reappears each time I want to visit the store on the VR desktop.

 

Has anyone else run into this issue and know of a solution?

Something I hadn't noticed before. From the Library click on the three dots for an app and select details. The store opens and shows the details of the app without the black box showing up. Click on the left pointing arrow on the upper left of the store window and the black box will show up or sometimes the view starts flashing gray and the Link app seems to restart.

Ok, so now it started working again as of yesterday evening (Pacific Time).

 

The problem must be in the content, like what happens when you have malformed HTML with the closing tags missing or in the wrong place.

 

At least it was working last time I checked about 4-6 hours ago. How long it will work remains to be seen.

Black box in Oculus VR when pressing Oculus store... This is how I got it fixed in windows 10...

Go to Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics Settings (way at the bottom). Under "Graphics performance preference" -> "Choose an app to set preference" -> "Desktop app". Click "Browse" and select:

C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe

Click "Add". Select "Options" and set it to "Power saving", and click "Save".

It is recommended to reboot your PC after making these changes.

When doing so, in a configuration of laptops with integrated and discreet, setting it "power savings" selects the integrated GPU. That will not be a good solution when pcvr gaming. If you are in a system with only one GPU, this setting does nothing.  I'm quite sure this is a software bug that will be fixed with a further software update, as choosing integrated graphics brings pcvr to a crawl if usable at all.

I don't have integrated graphics on my cpu, but this method worked for me, so I try to help you guys with this problem, so If u don't believe me or didn't try this method to fix the black bar issue, don't think this ain't gonna work for u, u can wait for an new update to fix it, than u might be waiting al long time, grtz

Worth a try if you are still having the issue.

I tried a factory reset (on a quest) about a week ago but couldn’t get it to work because couldn’t get it set with phone app. Finally got it working and no black bar.

‘Can’t say if that fixed it or an update may have worked but no more bar.

 

 

 

I was getting ready to do a factory reset when I tried it last night and it wasn't there.  It's been a few days since I've been on my Quest 2 and I'm not sure what happened or what the self correction was.  It could have been an update.

Fixed itself (or Meta fixed something) a week or so ago. Still seems to be working as of time of this posting.

Since it is no longer broken on my headset unable to test nlMurphy83's "fix".
