Hello all,
I recently got a brand new Oculus Quest via RMA, and I'm in the process of updating it. However, I'm having some issues trying to pair the new Headset with the app. I have the Oculus Quest 1 (or the OG quest).
When I try to setup the headset inside the Oculus app, I get through the part asking me to plug in the Quest to power, turn it on, etc. After I put in the pairing code found inside the Quest (sometimes it automatically finds the pairing code, sometimes it doesn't, don't know why), it says "pairing to headset". After a minute or two it spits out an error saying it cannot connect to the headset. I've tried all the following troubleshooting:
I don't know what's causing this. Is anyone else having this issue, and if so, is there any potential fixes for it? I already opened a ticket with Oculus Support and all I got as a response is "our developers are aware of the issue are are currently working on it" which could mean a lot or absolutely nothing judging by how you look at it. It looks like a LOT of other people are having this issue, so hopefully they fix whatever's causing it soon.
Cheers,
~ Dom
(EDIT: I posted a fix in the replies which appears to have fixed the issue for most. If it helped you at all, and you'd be so inclined, feel free to use my referral code, as when you (finally) activate your headset, we'll both get $30 of credit to use on whatever you want: https://www.oculus.com/referrals/link/DominatorVIP/)

this msg was 2 months ago.
I have a new RMA quest 1 that still has this issue after about 6 weeks of troubleshooting with meta support.
it has sooomething to do with my legacy oculus account
and sooomething to do with bluetooth pair bug + that legacy account
that does not allow the pair process to complete in the app
the device does bond somehow with my account but pairing does not complete
if I try to pair with a new account it states it is already on my account
and yet, somehow, the pairing process never finished initially but the device is on my account.
This is utterly miserable and weird.

Your screen is different from the one I had it. It's asking you to update your headset, have you tried sideloading to a newer version? Worth trying I guess. Some people have reported that it worked for them.
Besides that, as I mentioned, when I installed the developer hub for the 1st time, I haven't received any warning. Try to uninstall and install again, and connect again.
This is just ridiculous. Look the amount of guessing and workaround people are doing just to be able to turn on a fully functional device. Ridiculous.

ik heb ook nog steeds het zelfde probleem als alle anderen.
mijn iphone 6 wil niet meer koppelen met mijn quest 2 nadat ik mijn facebookaccount had verwijderd en een meta account had aangemaakt.

Sooo.... this is really very bad. I don't understand why they force you to use a mobile phone to use your headset.
it causes all problems. my iphone has always done pairing. and now suddenly not anymore.

so.... can we assume that he/she who actually could repair this issue was laid off ? 3...2...1... to the class action suit.

Just a heads up, it looks like Oculus recently pushed out an update a few weeks back which "supposedly" fixes the pairing issues. Not sure how truthful it is, as Oculus certainly haven't been super upfront about many issues, so chances are it'll do absolutely nothing, but worth a shot!

Hi All,
I am setting up my Oculus for a university course on VR, and when I try to pair my headset with the quest app on both mac and iPhone it says:
Software update required
To access your Meta account and avoid a factory reset, update your device with the latest software. Make sure it's plugged into a power source and connected to Wi-Fi for the update to complete successfully.
I have tried factory resetting my Oculus, and removing and reinstalling the Quest app on my phone.
I am not sure how to update the firmware on my Oculus as my controllers are not connected and the Quest is not connected to wifi.

Dear Aal,
I was facing the same issue and I was able to solve the problem. Please find below the steps i followed
1. Using ADB update the Oculus Quest software to V43.
2. Connect the Oculus tothe PC using USB 3.0 port and Meta Developer Hub App. The device need to be detected using the device manager.
3. The device will get updated. Once the first update is done. Connect the device to Meta Quest app on your PC. This will update the 2nd update.
4. Now your mobile app will be able to pair
Kindly let me know if anyone is facing issue
