Link/Air Link Doesn't change Windows Default Audio Out

NomadsAnIsland

I pretty much stopped using Link/Air Link around v49 when things started going south. I still fire it up now and then to see if anything has improved (no, not really). Virtual Desktop is my goto unless I need to run an game that doesn't work with VD.

However, I've noticed that Link/Air Link no longer changes the Windows Default Audio Out device to "Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device)". So if I start an app or game via Link/Air Link I get no sound in the headset unless I go to the PC Desktop via Link/Air Link and change the Windows audio device to "Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device)". This also means that when I disconnect or shut off my Quest 2 I have to manually change the audio device in Windows to Speakers. As I recall with earlier versions it would switch the audio devices back and forth when I disconnected or connected and only on rare occasions would I have to set it manually.

I've tried changing the audio settings in the PC Link app. Restarting and re-pairing the headset and Windows or Link. Re-installing the Link drivers for Windows. Uninstalling and re-installing Link. Nothing works.

Is this by design and changed from previous versions?

Hey there @NomadsAnIsland! We definitely want for you to be able to hear your PCVR audio without having to manually update your settings every time! We would recommend double checking the settings in your Oculus PC app to make sure that the audio settings there are correct. We have a support page with instructions on how to do that here.
